Engine for a small pattern plane....

Hi guys, i have this Magnum 25 PRO ABC, and i wonder if it will be a nice engine for a small pattern plane, like a Curare .20, a small tiger tail or another hot plane?. Also i have a 20 size tuned pipe for it...
thanks for the advice

stg61abc,

It should work VERY well. The .25/.28 was the ticket before the .32's hit the market. I still have my OS .25F abc from the 80's. It pulled my Sun-Fli 4-20 around very well with just a muffler. The pipe should be even better.

stg61abc,

I used 8x8, 9x5, or 9x6 props on my 25. I used 10% nitro and stock muffler and liked the 9 x 5 the best. I later found a muffler that had slightly more volume and allowed 900 rpm increase using the same fuel as above. I liked the 9 x 6 after that. The 8 x 8 was for speed applications. It (8x8)would take a little longer to get off the runway, but was noticeable faster in flight and very quiet. I hope you enjoy the 25 as much as I did/do..

That is a very nice motor. I have plans for a sweet looking Ursa Major that runs with a side mounted, side exhaust motor.

I recently scored a MVVS 25 redhead configured for rear exhaust, pipe included. Am going to run him in a Sunfly 4-20 whenever I get around to him.

stg61abc, nice engine! You could always scale down a set of plans. How about something like a small Tiporare?

A 20 size Tipo would be Killer! [X(] Have you ever done any work to scale that down. It seems that anyone can think it, you have plans for it somewhere.:D And how do you organize/locate all of them??

Hello,

I used to have two OS .25RC's . They always ran great with 9 x 4 and 9 x 6. I used one of them about two to three days /week, during 4-5 years, while the FSR's were more powerfull, but had more weight as well.
