RE: Eureka Banshee Build Thread
I'd love to have front proch also, but it just doesn't fit on a raised ranch.
My Banshee will have a hatch on the bottom for access to the retract, and I'll also be able to remove the tank from the wing opening. Keep going on your Banshee, take your time and the covering will turn out well. |
RE: Eureka Banshee Build Thread
FB, going with the tri gear, I think barn door ailerons, and seperate wing servos.
Anybody given any thought to having the belly pan removable if using tri gear retracts? I suspect that a retract servo mounted on the bottom of the wing, with a removable pan, would make pulling the wing much simpler (disconnecting the nose wheel retract pushrod). |
RE: Eureka Banshee Build Thread
Excellent choice Doug. I like the bellypan idea, even though I'm using Spring Air. I'll have to give it some thought.

RE: Eureka Banshee Build Thread
Freebird, see if your spring air tank will fit in the bellypan. Thats where mine was in the 73 model. I don't remember if it fit without any modification of the wing structure but thats where it was for sure. regards sugarfox

Received the Banshee this Friday afternoon, and have all the parts ready to go. Eureka did a fine job in both the cutting, and the selection of wood for the specific part. There was plenty of “fuzz” to remove from the cutting process, but I found that easier than trying to remove the “slime” from laser cutting, while trying to maintain the integrity of the parts’ shape.
I have both the plans from Eureka (ala J&J), and the “original” (see post #17). Interesting to note that J&J did increase the length of the nose to allow more room for the fuel tank and retract. However, I prefer the wing dowel configuration of the original plans, as they will be less prone to “going oblong” over time. I have to drive to CT this week, and am going to try to arrange a pick-up at National Balsa. Plan to order mostly contest grade; we’ll see what I get. Did a quick BOM, and have attached. Let me know of any issues you may find, and I’ll correct. I need to purchase servos for this bird. Any suggestions for either JR or Futaba servos would be appreciated. Doug Interesting the .doc is not supported for upload......I'll just paste the BOM then.
