Since the Tipo was an evolution of the SPA legal Curare, would it fall under the category of "duck", like the Phoenix-series? I had a Tipo 750, it was a great flying plane. Yes, it had a Taurus paint scheme, great visibility in all conditions. Huge areas of primary colors.

The classic pattern ship with 2 stroke 60 and retracts vs. the SPA type extended with the 91 FS seems like a endless debate. IMHO the older two strokes were absolutly beautiful machines and my Tiger Tail will be correct dimensions with 61 2 stroke power. Even picked up a couple of Rev Up 11 1/2x7 1/2 Deci Bans last week. But two weekends ago I had the pleasure of attending the Northeast Chapter SPA workshop and got some help setting up my SPA Intruder. All I can say is WOW. I now realize why the guys who have been competing really like the 91's. Power is never lacking and the plane is much more flyable in any crosswind situation.
I really think that if we really sit down and think about it the position of the gear is hardly noticable when you are doing a double immelman or a three turn inverted spin. I think that this debate is kind of like what type of woman do you like. Ask 10 guys and you get 12 different answers. Lets just keep building and flying the older designs and have some fun wheels up or down there is room for all. Think of all the build threads and photos that have surfaced since the classis pattern forum has been in existance. Beautiful designs and building work in both styles of aircraft. Now we have modelers building for the antique contest coming up, who ever would have thought. We should borrow a line from the Warbird chapter of the EAA "Keep Em Flying". Peace Mark O |

if you can show the progression of the plane like I did with the Niris which is the Peppermint Pattie and submit it to Micky and the board they will look at it..

I wish I could join that training session but although pattern is my passion I only started competing a couple of months ago. Our F3A scene is small, but there a few very good pilots. Happy to know you had a positive experience here (as opposed to what you'd think watching CNN). Next time you plan on coming here, drop me a line and I'll show around. Haifa and Tiberius are cool but there is much more to see. Ofir |

Scott, which Superstar? I know of two published versions, SS1 with fixed gear and SS2 with retracts. there was a SS3 but I have not seen plans.

A 2 then, I have been competing locally with one of these, and won something a while back with it. Very nice airplane and I kept it under 7lb (all wood) with a TT .61 and muffler. You will like it.
