SPA Planes

Tiger Tail would be a good choice. GOOd all around plane - Kinda like the Chevy of SPA.

Personally, I'd like to see a Cutlass Supreme. Its got nice lines and is a smooth flier. My .02 cents.

For a long time I've wanted to see a Blue Angel, or generic reproduction like the SBA I used to fly back in the mid-80s. It was a gorgeous plane, flew very well and was quite forgiving, (translated easy to fly). This allows you to concentrate on the maneuver rather than basic flying.
The fact there are currently two build threads in progress, (one goes back many months), shows the level of interest in this plane. I don't know the legalities of who owns the rights to it, (like the Curare which was also has a "knock-off" that used to be sold by Mutchler's Hobbies,(sp), and is now produced by a certain Alabama manufacturer), but I am quite certain the plane would be a big success. It was designed toward the end of the SPA "time window" similar to the Dirty Birdy. Tell me what you think? Duane |

Is there a rule against rear exhausts in SPA? Why couldn't you put a rear exhaust engine in, say, a Daddy Rabbit? They allow 4 strokes.

whoops, i forgot to consider whether there were any SPA legal rear exhaust planes. there is definitely a lack of projects here that are rear exhaust.

Here is a picture of my Cutlass Supreme which I am currently flying in SPA Sportsman with an OS 55 AX using an 11x8 APC prop on 20% ProPattern fuel. AUW is 7 lbs. It flies very smoothly.

Besides, you can fly your BA in SPA by not hitting the retract switch, then fly it in BPA with the switch working.

Just read Dick Russ' thread again. The revenger was designed in '76, It's not SPA leagel. It's a shame.

Yep we where in negotiations and his request for what he wanted was workable, but the plane date is what killed it.. He was under the idea that cut off was 76..
I was looking on the list (photos) of all the classic planes and it showed the Tipo was spa legal.. for some reason I have that hard to find right.. Might have to call Hansen about that.. I do have a few sets of plans I'm looking at.. but nothing jumping out yet.. Steve Byrum was thinking a Electric KA.. But there is someone already doing the KA.. I do think another 8 oz can come out of that plane. I would like to see a T2A MKII as electric even talked with the people that have the molds, but they vanished.. scott anderson www.rcfoamy.com |

what about the skymaster? it's a rear exhaust. i have the fiberglass version, although i have no idea of the manufacturer or dates.

There is no way the Tipo could be legal. The plans where in Model Builder Magazine February 1980. Although this would have been my first choice for a new kit. I didn't mention it because I was under the impression that it was not SPA legal. I just looked on the list and the Tipo is not on it.
I've sent two e-mails to Great Planes letting them know that they need to come back out with the kit if they still had the molds and templates. The Tiporare was the plane I learned to fly with in 1983. I never had a trainer. I would love to have another. I've got the plans and figured some day I'll get around to building it, but right now I'm more concerned with building SPA legal planes.
