So who's the Tipo 850 seller? Says he's an ex national champion with fading eyesight...

Nice Tipo kit though!

David.

Yes it is, considering the Arrow fetches about $325, a Hanno NIB w/ pipe and header about $500 and the retracts...Well a member just gave a set away, used, but the price was right. I think you can get a new set on the auction site for under $100.
Yeah, at $1100 the seller is Really reaching.

cllaurit I'll bet your right...

Jason Shulman put together a list of AMA national champions in another thread and Dave Brown is listed as National Champion in 1982... :D

Flyin' a Tipo too... ;)

Here is a link to the thread I came across:

(see page 2 for the complete listing's)

Guesstimate on the selling price. TF is right, it is not DB.

RE: tiporare somewhere

DB was the first name that came to mind naturally but it just didn't strike me as an auction ad posted by him. Although I haven't met DB, it just didn't strike me as his style. I can't recall the ad details but does it say that the owner was Nats champion in '82 specifically? If so, Ray has the answers for us.

The 850 was clearly a big bird at 70+" wing span and a 65" fuse! I'd say it's better suited to a 90 RE. Is Webra still making these? I think so...

David.

RE: tiporare somewhere

He also says June 1982. Depending on when the event was held, would it not be possible for the 1981 champion to be the seller?

Andy

Good point Andy.

Ray...?

Mmm... that Tipo sure would be nice but alas I don't own a 90 RE and don't expect to buy one any time soon. I do own an OS 90 SE which will have to find a home one of these days. Maybe the Super Skybolt would be a good fit at ~9 lbs AUW.

David.

RE: tiporare somewhere

David,
The Skybolt would be awesome with your 90 2 stroke. I father and son, at our field, both had one each. They were.. Arfs. The planes look damn good and flew even better. Maybe I was a little bias, since I love Skybolts. Each one had a 120 4stroke, but I think the 2 stroke would be nice.

RE: tiporare somewhere

Hadn't thought about that. Wouldn't be fitting for a classic pattern fan - it's not our style... [8D]

Still... nice Tipo 850 - the figures are rising. Who's buying !?

David.

RE: tiporare somewhere

When DB left World, he immediately started flying Futaba. Now this is as far as I remember, and do not remember the years. I left World in 1969, got married. I think I am right here. If Dave had this Tipo at his house, the last time I was there, I am sure he would have pulled it out and showed it. At that time, he was building a full scale 'One Design', just waiting on the powerplant. I was up there two years ago, had dinner with Dave, Sally and some other flying buddy's from those day's. If he had a Tipo for sale, some of us would have known about it. Mike M. or Tony F. may be able to put some solid info in here.
