Default Vote for Inside R/C TV

We would like to get all the people on RCU to get their voices heard.

The Outdoor Channel has a contest every year to choose the best shows in specific categories. Inside R/C is up for "Best Variety Show". All you have to do is go to www.outdoorchannel.com and click on the "Golden Moose Awards" link, agree to the standard rules, and choose Inside R/C as your favorite show on the network.

Update:
Season #2 is in production now, and the new episodes are going to be even better than season #1! We are very excited about the new season. Also, we have been picked up to be on the air 52 weeks a year (starting in October 2003) thanks to the support of guys like you. Please vote now, we appreciate your support.

Thanks, and be sure to watch for the RCUniverse plugs in next seasons episodes.

I do get it and you guys are not missing much. The host drinks waaaay too much coffee or something. It is very basic and as a way to promote RC it is OK but for anyone with much experience it is kind of silly. Besides there are a LOT of commercials for Hobby Town (I think that's the sponsor) and the whole thing comes off like a big infomercial.

Maybe they'll get more in depth in the second season and I know they need broad appeal for their audience but for the average RCU member it will be very basic. I do applaud the effort and anything that promotes RC is good for all of us.

So as not to be too negative some suggestions:

Do a show about an IMAC event.

Do a show about building a kit.

People love Jets and Turbines, feature them on a program.

Feature an average flying field that someone might find near their home.

Interview an older RC icon that has had accomplishments in the hobby for the last thirty years.

Also I am available if you need another associate producer

Hey BasinBum,

I think you may be thinking about the show on the DIY Network...Radio Control Hobbies . It's sponsored by Megatech and Hobbytown USA and hosted by Chris Chianelli (not sure about spelling) who is affiliated with Megatech. Inside R/C is sponsored by Dubro and has co-hosts. I don't like the hosts or the lame dialog but the content is better. Later.

I think the format has changed slightly for the 2nd season, there are no longer two co-hosts, just the pretty one
I think they are also going to do more coverage of events..

I called my cable company and it's not available on any of their services, digital or standard. It's cablevision in NJ. So sad.

I get it on digital cable. I caught the tail end of the season. I too would like to see more depth to the show.

Some ideas for events:

Joe Nall
Superman
Masters
DOGS Fly-In at the WPAFB
TOLEDO!!!
ANY of the Nats

A trip to AMA Headquarters
Tucson Aerobatic Shootout
Florida Jets
Top gun
Scale Masters
JR Aerotow
Triple Tree Aerotow

A beginners corner
A visit to Towers Hobby or Horizon
visit to: Carden Aircraft, DA, Cactus Aviation/Aircraft International, BVM Jets, etc.

Interviews with any of the top pilots.

A special with Faye ??? - the guy who does the awesome covering work.

How Tos with professional builders and painters.

How tos in general.

heck - I go to most of these things anyway. You guys hiring???

Don't forget folks. It's called Inside R/C TV not Inside R/C Airplanes TV.
Expect helis, cars, boats and the like. But they can show more of the advanced stuff. Boats are more then the plastic, electric motored all-in-one units. Let's see some 1/4 scale Unlimited Hydos! Cars are more than the 1/10th 2-channel jobbies. How about some serious off-road hardware or some of the sophisticated road and oval racing stuff?
And you can only do so many segments on Park Flyers.

I'd like to see and learn more about Turbines. I heard guys are beginning to use them on scale Unlimited Hydros. That would be cool to see on TV on how they set them up for both planes and boats.

Your right. If they really want to target the biggest audience it would be mostly cars as they seem to be gaining popularity much faster than airplanes. Let's not debate the reasons here as that is another thread alltogether.

Your not missing much if you don't get it. Don't pay the extra cash for that channel expecting to watch this one show.

It has a time schedule that has yet to be deciphered by me when it comes on. I have DVR (digital video recorder) and every week I search ahead the next week to see when it's on and record it. Many times it will not come on for 2-3 weeks at a time then 3 times in one week.

The "main" body of the show is mostly about like looking at someone who went to a fun fly/big bird fly in etc.. with a handheld camcorder and a lot of times you just get bouncy images of stuff happening with no commentary etc.. as to what your seeing / who is it / why are we showing it?

It's something to watch, but I wouldn't pay for it.

It seems like it's geared more towards people just getting into R/C. I watched it 3-4 times, then said to heck with it. Maybe I'll try again with the new season.

Default INSIDE RC 2nd SEASON

I vote yes, but wish it was an hour long instead of a half hour.
During the hour show they could devote 1/2 hour to RC cars and the other 1/2 hour to RC planes.
With kit and product reviews, and tip & tech sesions.

bychow,
Went to vote for Inside RC so as to promote shows about RC but, you have to "enter" a contest in order to vote and it seems like a way of getting a mailing list instead of just voting for the show.

If your here to tell people about the show as a way to promote RC fine. If your here to lure people to your website to "sign-up" for spam lists and junk mail than shame on you.

I haven't seen it, but it sounds like Radio Control Hobbies on DIY. They cover some of the basics but don't go in depth enough in my opinion.

No it's a lot different. On the DIY show he highlights the construction of an plane/car/boat etc.. in one show etc..

On this show it's just seems like random footage of events like a fun fly, a boat race etc... They need a new producer to organise stuff.

There's really no "help" part of the show or anything like that.

He may be corny but John Beech's Modelsport video magazine is by far the best thing out there. Each is 2 hours long and is predominately fixed wing but does have some heli stuff too. I've seen both of the 1/2 hr shows and theyre strictly for newbies.
Modelsport caters to people who are currently in the hobby.

My Direct TV folks aren't much to deal with. We're both 63 and really don' t care about all the Disney / MTV / ETC along those lines. But DDS will not listen. All we wanted to do was swap a five or six of those for a couple of others... NOPE, so we don't get it. Don-Basehor,Ks

I watched 3 episodes of this show and couldn't stand it anymore. The 2 shiny co-hosts were annoying and void of any R/C knowledge, plus they served no purpose, they merely introduced segments. The segments were just demos, basically, of the stuff they were trying to sell in the commercials. Very little was said about the meat and potatoes of modeling, just very very superficial info, and then they rush to tell you which one to buy and from whom. Only a very green beginner with no R/C experience would gain anything from this. I didn't hang around to see if the show grew some legs. I MIGHT check out the second season, for kicks.
