RCU forums are virtually identical. The forum changes are actually ones that would have come to this RCU within 3 months regardless so the forum side of things are exact. We just developed the same features I was working on into the new site. These were all features asked for over and over like custom forums (MyForums), search by phrase, boolean searches using AND and OR, Product link which takes you to all auctions/ads and reviews and threads on that topic, multiple picture upload which lets you upload 4 pictures in a single post, unlimited picture filesize so you never have to resize your photos when you upload...the list goes on...every feature asked for and fulfilled. The changes aren't as big as they look on the surface...the header change and colors are superficial and we will have themes coming so you can change the colors to whatever you want.
And of course the forums and everything else is free for everyone except that sellers pay a pittance to list something for sale in the classifieds or pay 50% of ebays fees to list an auction (which remember..both are cross-posted in related threads in the discussion forums now giving extra exposure).
We also added a field, track and water venue locator so you can enter your flying fields, race tracks, boat racing locations or go and find others. You can enter instructors or search for them. Great for beginners looking for help or new flying fields.
We have worked VERY hard to make this an RCU every member will enjoy and after the short learning curve of an hour or two you will likely start to feel right at home at the revamped RCU and this old RCU will become a fond but distant memory.

Marc Thank's
Great update and info, looking forward to the change over.
??? (are the links going to stay the same or am I going to have to change my web pages)???
its actually pretty easy to get around, just settings are a lot differant. Club finder and product info is a plus

Using the Club Finder, I managed to contact the Prez (great guy) via e-mail, but they've relocated too far north. He told me that alot of the guys have passed on, however, it was nice to hear from him again.

RCU is just a discussion forum. You want to raise our dues. I think we need to cut the staff and cut expenses and make it what it really is, a discussion forum. Trying to put in upgraded classifieds and an auction just increases the costs. What has RCU done for us lately. Don't talk about speed, that was a long time ago and has no meaning now. All you want to do is collect more money. We need to cut the amount charged now and have free classifieds. Sell the servers and get smaller ones. Keep this enterprise moving and have it cost less. Move into a smaller building. The membership does not want what you are offering. More Ads will just cause more defections. Let's put up a poll and analyze RCU's financial statement. Is there a Financial Analyst in the house? Contact me to analyze RCU's statement.
Matter of fact, I can run it better. How do I run for President?
JR
PS. Too Mike L, please let Marc see this before you delete it.
Matter of fact, let him make the decision to delete it. Please???Hmmmm. Sound familiar Marc? ROFLMAO. Now, if the truth be known, your doing a hell of a job (that's a good thing).

in conjunction with J__R (very very impressive case put forward by the way
) as the site grows, we do need bigger servers or it'll take a minute just to load one page, i reckon that some of the registered users no longer come on here anymore
why not delete all the members who have been inactive for say 4 months? Sure it might make advertisers want to pay you less to advertise on the site but smaller servers will be cheaper?
just my 2 pence

I hope no one took my prior post seriously. It was done tongue-in-cheek. It's a reference to a position Marc took about a year ago in the AMA forum.
Marc, I am looking forward to the new site. Good luck. Oh.. and you are a good sport.

When it does change I will have to say my time on RCU will be greatly reduced...it has nothing to do with fees.....it's just the fact that I hate the navigation and the look of the new site...plus it is to cluttered up.
So I guess I will be putting much less strain on the RCU servers.

If you set up "my forums" the navigation is even simpler than now.

If the business is out there go for it ! Have been reading more info on the new and wonder how many ebay users will come over here and flood this site with junk that they sell on there. Then watch the copy cats.

Hey Philly,
don't sweat the small stuff. We are on it (evidence the time I'm posting this! [&o]). Anyway, things will be tip top. This site is huge and complex and NOTHING is easy, believe me. Marc and I work an average of 16 hours a day on this thing trying to get it right. Hang in there.
Thanks,
Michael

i almost just clicked reply on outlook before i realised the answer was really here[&:]
no need for the message to be there as well lol
i found the threads on this RCU that had been answered in the old, but they hadn't been updated, i take it this is whats going on now..
will the links in my outlook then work after this 48 hours?
when page 2 of the set up works i'll change my settings back again.

Personally, I don't mind a few bugs or problems, hell, it gives life a little spice.
I really do like the fact that I can upload four pictures at one time to a post and since I set up MyForums, I don't have all that stuff that doesn't interest me in my face. Only thing I wish is that it would go straight to MyForums when it starts, but that is only one click of the mouse.
All in all, I have to give you guys two thumbs up for the new site. I LIKE IT!
