Being part Irish gives me a few more points on the Rockwell scale for head hardness. Maybe 3 more points.

I can relate Rich my first ancestor on my dad's side was an Irish soldier (who ancestors were part of the disinherited Argyles to leave Scotland to avoid the 5th Earl's Presbyterian reformation) who went over the hill from the English army to accept the Continental Congress' offer to become an American!

And Bugs U forgot the BUGS. As for AZ I'd say that in the PHX valley there are no shortage of OLD GOAT Sno birds. But I'd rather fly at 60 degrees than Ice Fish at -20. Speaking of flying gota get to the field before every one leaves for lunch ... Can't miss a lunch. Think I have a student this afternoon too. Love teaching O'L GOATS. The Kids learn too fast. Then at 16 they find girls and cars not necessarily in that order& the teaching is all for naught most of the time.

No! You want to come to Ho-Chunk country! Nice up here now, hit freezing today.
Or maybe Potowatomie, would suit you better? Got them too!

My grandfather was in the Kaiser's guard, until he deserted. Came from Bremen, but married a Spanish girl from Stutgart. On the other side, my French grandfather married an Irish girl, Guess you could say "mongrel" and not be too far off.

I also don't discriminate, I insult them all equally.

Rich.

But they come back in their forties or fifties when their kids have left home!

Brief story. I turned up at out flying field about four months ago to find a stranger, a man in his forties, with a well-known British sports model, a WOT 4, powered by a Thunder Tiger 46Pro and guided by an old Futaba FM radio. I asked him whether he had flown it yet, he replied that he had just bought the radio second hand but he had built the model and had flown in the Eighties. He said he would prefer it if someone flew the model for him first, trimmed it out and then handed him the transmitter. I was impressed by the way he hand-started the engine and it was obvious that he had taken the time to set it up properly. We took the model out and I took off. The model handled impeccably requiring no adjustments at all. I handed the transmitter to him and he did alright but lost a lot of height in the turns. I pointed this out to him.

He replied,"That's because I keep pulling the left stick backwards." The penny dropped! He had flown Mode 1 in the past but now had Mode 2 equipment!

I soon landed the model for him, found an old Futaba Mode 1 transmitter in the club's trainer locker and set him up with old Derek James who flies Mode 1.

Pictures of my WOT 4s for the benefit of benighted Yanks attached. WOT 4s may featured either a parallel chord "Classic" wing or the "Mark 3" tapered wing. I'll also include a picture of Derek James, retired Rolls Royce engineer and his daily transport, a 1977 Ford Escort Estate car which he continues to maintain himself.
