Heavy snow forecast here for tomorrow. Current temperature -1C or 30F and forecast to remain below freezing right through to the weekend. Pity really, if it weren't for the temperature it would be good flying weather.!

you got that right. i jump out of the car, tramp out in two feet of snow with my pontooned umx timber, fly for 5 minutes, crash, run back to the car, and hold my hands in front of the heater vents whilst driving with my knees
some guy in mn flew in 1f this morning, makes me feel like a wimp

When I lived in England I made it a rule that I wouldn't fly in wind speeds above 10mph or in temperatures below 10C (50F.) The "Rule of 10." I can fly in stronger winds but it's not very pleasant.
Looks like it's going to be some time before I fly again!

i agree with your rules, but as a newbie, and a covid shut in, i'm willing to risk the results of breaking both.
i feel like i lose some skills (limited as they are) when i don't fly much. i have paid the price in crashes and cold fingers, but it is still a lot less than i usually spend in florida every winter.
plus, i got my first social security jack last month, more money for airplanes!

You got that right! At the closest flying field to my house its easy to judge the wind speed. It is located near a lake and if you see whitecaps on the water it means no flying. The wind needs to hit 25 mph to cause the whitecaps. My Kadet LT-40 had its maiden flight in 20 mph wins.

There was one Flyin about 3-4 years ago at SIG where they cancelled the Saturday event due to the winds being too strong. A few lost souls did try flying, I know of one Crash expert who flew his Rascal 168 and nearly lost it. Bob flew one of his planes and flew it backwards down the runway. That was about the only time I saw a trainer do a true harrier landing. They have a 30 MPH windsock since it is an actual airport where it is held, and it was sticking straight out that day.

He made me a pilot figure for me to fit my 1/5 scale Auster on his 3D printer. We called him Austin and dressed him up in two shades of blue which are the colours of the New South Wales Rugby League team! Rugby League is a big sport in New South Wales and I intend to finish my Auster as a replica of an Australian-registered aircraft. It's already covered in white Solartex, I've no wish to add paint. and the only white Austers I've been able to find have been Australian registered. Unfortuntely I must have sent him the wrong dimensions because Austin is too big to fit the Auster and I've had to cut his legs off. Neither have I been able to get on with the Auster what with building paths, stripping wallpaper and re-building Barons.
Perhaps one of us should send him a private email. What do you think?
The snow has not arrived yet. As I type this it's 06.48 local time and the snow is forecast to fall heavily from 10.00. I've just enough time to get to the local open air market at Aigurande 5kms away and to get back home before it snows.
Then I'll get on with the wallpaper stripping. I have worked in my time as a professional decorator whenever I have been unable to find anything more lucrative and I have a good quality steam stripper dating from those days; you can stand on it, it's that good! I made a start yesterday then discovered that I'd soon run out of steam. I checked the equipment to find that I had a serious leak from the tank and several litres of hot water had spilled out onto the hall floor. Good job it's a tiled floor, it's nice and clean now! I've repaired the leak with automotive body filler and fibre glass mat but I've bought some chemical stripper just in case the repair doesn't hold.
PS. Pays de la Loire. Whenever I cross the River Loire on my way back "home," usually near Tours, I feel that I've entered northern France!

David, i sent him an email yesterday I will let you know when I see a reply. I have stripped all the wallpaper and replaced it in my house it can be quite a chore. A couple of years back I stripped a bathroom and went back paint. It seems wallpaper isn't as popular these days. Best of luck with the home repairs! Do you think you can sell it this spring? I know you are anxious o get back to being spoiled by Miss Blue Eyes.
I put some more decals on the Pink N Poke last night so all I have left is the tail logo left but I need to correct the tail wheel and get he rudder permanently installed before they go on, followed by a few touch ups here and there. I'm in the home stretch on this airplane. In true RAF fashion I but the flight crew names on the side.

Thats PINK!
Probably leaking from your standing on it! LOL
No Mike I haven't heard anything of him. I know he was building a Curare 20, (best of luck with that!) but that he was not enjoying good health when he last posted.
