RE: TRU-TURN , DA-50 QUESTION
What plane. Kinda determines the size for you. Like depfife said, give them a call.
You are right though, they make a great looking spinner.
Here is my 4" Ultimate with lightened backplate pre drilled for the DA50 and cut for the Mejzlik Props.

CF spiners are far lighter than aluminum (tru turn, dave brown, etc) as for price I don't really know since I've never priced them.

p51B, you're absolutely right !! I did not realize that its cheaper than Tru-Turn. Too bad I just ordered a set from Tru-Turn. They are way overpriced, and I don't like the way they overcharge even on shipping. My next spinner order will be from Dave Brown or TBM. Thanks again.........

RE: TRU-TURN , DA-50 QUESTION
One thing you should consider.True Turn will drill the back plate of their spinner to fit the mounting bolts for the DA-50. You have four prop bolts, plus the prop shaft to consider when trying to get this alignment right. Likewise, they will also cut the spinner to match the size and brand of prop you are using. This is done for a reasonable fee. I ordered a Ture Turn Spinner for my Da-50 mounted in the Pitts and was very pleased with the way they handle all of the above. Of course you can do this yourself, but after having just mounted my prop for the first time using four prop bolts for the mounting I am glad I let True Turn to the cutting. Here are the details of what I experienced even after having True Turn do the spinner mods for the recommended Menz 22 8 prop.
You probably already know this. If not, let me encourage you to get the prop jig for drilling your prop from DA if you haven't done so already. Even with all this done, I still had to drill out the holes a bit more and then test and drill some more to get the alignment just right when mounting the prop. It starts out with a very tight fit. You will need it a bit loosed up so you can get the prop bolts through the spinner back plate while allowing the prop shaft to fit through the center hole. Have to work with it a bit. Just don't force it. Then balance the prop. This was my first time doing this so I learned as I went. Worked out great.
If done right the tolerances are pretty tight fitting and you certainly don't want to force the fit. Since you don't want a a potential imbalance issue to create more vibration it just make sense to me to let True Turn do the cutting. Regardless of which spinner you use, you are going to have to cut four holes in the back plate while keeping the prop shaft hole perfectly centered. Otherwise you will could have an alignement, and, or imbalance issue.
By the way, love the engine. Still breaking it in. So far very user friendly. DA service has been the best I have experienced. Easily available for help in answering installation and mounting questions.

RE: TRU-TURN , DA-50 QUESTION
That's interesting. I drilled my prop bolts once on a drillpress with the jig and they lined right up. Very nice fit. I agree 100% on going with Tru Turn. May be pricey but worth every penny.

RE: TRU-TURN , DA-50 QUESTION
Yeah, compare a Tru-Turn with any of the less expensive aluminum spinners like DB, Vortex, Magnum, Great Planes, etc.. No comparison with regards to fit and finish. Not having to cut out for the prop is worth every penny. I tried to save $$ by opening the holes up on some cheap Magnum aluminum spinners for a larger prop. I've always managed to slip with the Dremel, creating a nasty scratch (or several) on each and every spinner cone I've modified.

RE: TRU-TURN , DA-50 QUESTION
SilverEagle2-RCU - I noticed that your engine was mounted and had a question. How much area do you have between the carb intake and the firewall? Looks kind of close. Did you drill a hole in the firewall to allow for a clear airpath or is there enough room between the firewall and the carb for this?

RE: TRU-TURN , DA-50 QUESTION
So will Dave Brown at a Cheaper Price than Tru Turn.
I just ordered a 3 1/2 in Spinner from them and they are going to cut it out for a 22x8 MSC prop and drill it for a DA-50
Cheaper than Tru Turn could get close to.
To each his own!

RE: TRU-TURN , DA-50 QUESTION
I think DA is catching on as well. Previously you could only go to Aerografix, RC showcase etc. to get custom made stand off spacers. Now they are doing this as well. Good move on their part. They needed to provide more options. DA is only getting better as they go.

RE: TRU-TURN , DA-50 QUESTION
rajul, Not sure on the pricing because I had already purchased my spacers from Aerografix. At the time when I purchased the DA-50, Da only had two sizes of spacers for the 50. From what I have read on RCU, it appears they have expanded their product offering to be more flexible and to go more after the after-market sales. Smart thing for them to do.
