I have a pair and have recently fixed a patch of P-Tex to both skis. The P-tex on these BIG skis will help with the sticky light snow. They can actually be waxed. It increased the weight slightly, however this is not a concern on my LT-40. The real question is, will they be too slipery.

I think its slick. Hehe.

Dubro Skis Close Up Picture

Taildragger set-up works the best!
My Great Planes FUN 1 was originally
a Trike Gear but I added an aditional
gear block forward so I can change
back and forth!!

Here is a close up picture shot during
Warm-UP? For me not the plane

I just put some du bro skis on my funtana. i tried them out in my yard and they work great. only thing is my rudder was in the snow and it bent my tail wheel tiller wire, so my tail wheel ended up turning sideways. I may need to devise a method to prevent that. I have a sullivan tail wheel and lost the spring that goes from rudder to wheel, so i substituted it with a paper clip wire, works good and is easy to adjust tracking, but it dosnt help in the snow.

Sean,

Some tail wires are softer than others, I have always used the Dubro .40 size tailwheel
bracket but I replaced the soft wire with K&S .078 dia tempered music wire. I like to
drive my planes around on the snow at very high speeds like a snow buggy and have
not bent a tail wire yet? My friend Jofn "Needle Valve Johnny" said nice snowmobile
but why did you put wings on it??[:@]
Take a look at my FUN 1 close up picture this plane does not have a tailwheel and does
not need it in snow as the plane is flown as a trike gear set up in warmer weather. The
tail just slides on the snow and is very easy to turn. Please see picture.

I normally like Du-bro products, but I thought their skis were a bit on the cheap side. I did not like the single screw lock and was worried about the tips going down. A gent at our R/C club suggested the Maiden aluminum skis and I love them on my Ultra Stick 60. I used them several time last week, and they were perfect. We had really, really high winds, so I had to crab alot on landing, and they were super stable even though I pounded them to get it on the ground before it sailed into the fence at the end. Even my wife was impressed!

The axles need to be tight and grind a flat spot on the axle for the stop bolt or they will rotate up. The fix for the tail I built a ski for that and it works good.
