I used to spend 'bout 15K a year to race stock cars. I thought this would be cheaper. I'm not so sure any more. It doesn't pay to be too passionate about your hobbies ..........

Well, I really don't get that much stuff because I don't really have the money.....I have to save up everything that I get.......Man I feel stupid because I just feel guilty when I buy something @ the LHS......I recently got the Futaba 6EXA (a measly (compared to other spenders) $190, for it......) I hate to spend it on somethin that I love.....but that $230 hard earned money from saving is gone.......gone....gggggooooooonnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeee ee...............Actually I have saved everything (receipts) since like.....um.....2nd crash........I think that the last time that I added up...I had spent like $80 just on crash stuff.....wood, CA, epoxy, etc. But, then you add in the new Somethin' Extra (that I didn't buy but parents got me for X-mas) and I had to have the radio (6EXA that I bought) and the engine that I paid $30 of my own money, and then the extra servo (only $15) but I just want to add up everthing that I have spent in 5 years and then get back to this thread........

It seems to get worse every year. When I first started, I bought a LT-40 and all the associated gear, radio, etc. Maybe $1,000 total. That was about 7 or 8 years ago.

Last year I bought a 1/5th scale L39 kit ($5,000), P-120 turbine for L39 ($3,000), BVM King Cat ($4,000), a 40% Carden 330S custom built($7,000), and lots of digital servos for the L39 and King Cat ($3,000). To offset this, I sold a Bobcat ($3,000), and a 33% Edge 540T ($4,000). Ouch, I'm not keeping track any more []

Well, the first year only cost me about $500 (ARF).
Then the second year I decided to build a kit and the exdpenditure went to about $400 for tools, kit, etc.

The second kit was much cheaper.

Now, I've pretty much quit, except for scratch, and they are usually $20-$30 per plane, max.
