I built a huge custom wood one (sorry no pics) that weighed a ton. It did the job good, but when I float flew from my boat it took up too much room in my boat. Then I just put everything in a milk crate. Ive used that for years along with a small tackle box for props and small parts. Now I just bought a Plano 777 for props and parts and almost everything. My fuel and starter are going in another tool box. A little of a bummer having two boxes, but it's very organized, looks nice, and is very accessible since the Plano has a clear door on the top tray that holds all the things I need most. Our local "Big Box" tackle store had them on sale for $30. My dad ended up getting it for me for my birthday since he saw me eying it up.

Here is the best info I can give you about how I did the legs.
The block that the legs bolt to are held onto the bottom of the Field box by two 1/20" blind nuts in the bottom and two steel screws bolted into them. The bottom of the box is 3/8" ply wood. This has held for more than 20 yrs. Good luck
The block shown has a compound cuts on the ends. Easily done with a radial arm saw.

Yes you are correct, it is a rolling garden seat that I use in my shop and working on things around the house. I have a knee implant in one of my knees so I cannot kneel or support my weight with that knee bent. So I sit down on that thing and roll around to everything. I had not thought about it but it would make a good cart to roll the flight box from place to place. The finished and filled weight of my Field Box is approximately 40 lbs.

Lee, what is that underneath your flight box? Is that one of those rolling garden seats? Looks like a great way to move a heavy flight box around

I was thinking of putting some manufacturer logos on my box. I used to do that on all my tool boxes. I just looked at everyones field boxes in this thread and the majority of them are clean, no stickers.
I just find that somewhat curious. Race car people put stickers on everything. Full size competition planes are stickered too. But it seems most aero modelers do not put stickers on their flight boxes. Interesting...

@Bud: very nice box! I really like the tu-tone finish. That took a steady hand!
@rajul: I just made some stickers on my computer using Avery clear label sheets. It looks OK, but not like I expected. I had made decals before and put them on a painted surface (boat) and they look really good. But the ones I just made, after being applied to the box, do not match the clear finish 100% equally so I am undecided yet. Might have to get a vinyl cutter to make the one for my name and AMA number. I dunno... Here is a pic of it anyway:

Bud, I think you can get a sign maker to do your lettering. I think they must all have vinyl cutters and that would be easy for them to do. Only thing is, it costs some money...
My field box is essentially finished! I am still going to varnish the insides of the drawers and touch up the fuselage cradles but it's done for all practical purposes.

Thanks Tom, i'll check with a sign cutter, plenty of time..plane won't be here till mid may. BTW excellent job on that box. I gave up on power panels years ago...switching to gas so I don't need one and never used the one I had for glow. but I did buy a super brain 969 field charger. Was going to buy one like yours but needed one that would charge a 3000 mah receiver pack. I need to go back and put a couple more coats of urethane on my field box before I drag it to the field....think I need a dolly! ![Big Grin](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Hi kmot, just curious to know more about the vertical drawer in the bottom left of your vmar flight box. What do you store in there ? Can the Tx fit in ?

Well guys, it is 100% finished now so I just had to post a couple more pictures. ![Smile](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
It was fun to build and wire it up. Varnishing with all the sanding and drying time sure is lengthy but worth it when it's done. This thing is varnished inside and out including all drawers. I also made some drawer dividers on 3 of the drawers. Got this idea from Bud's flightbox!![Smile](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Now I can clear off my worktable and get started on a plane!
