OK guys and gals, who can correctly identify this airplane? Lets make it interesting, if anyone can identify it, I will send you a prize! What that prize is? I don't know, I will have to look around the garage!!! Maybe a dead battery pack!

It's a styrofoam model from Wal-Mart with a Norvel .049 on the nose.

Boy that was fast! You must have looked at our web page and saw the article about it!! The prize?? I will see what is laying around the shop unused, I know I have a cracked 11/7 prop, a dead battery pack, and maybe some old fuel that is no good.

Default COOL!

I've never won anything! I did look at the website and there it was!

PM me for my address. That battery pack or the prop sounds great! Either one will go on the wall as my first trophy!! Don't want to pay hazmat shipping old fuel ... unless it's wildcat. Then I could at least use the jug!

Do you know the weight ready to fly? I've been thinking of doing this only with electric and it seems to be pretty heavy. How does it fly? Dan

Default Flying

I was very surprised to see how well it did fly. basicly Arthur hollowed out the forward area for the fuel tank, cut the nose flat and epoxied a firewall in place, then built a rudder and elevator from balsa, and used servo tape for the receiver, battery and servos. It was hand launched, and flew fairly good, it needed some fine tuning more up elevator, but on the second flight it flew better. The wings started to fold in more and more as the second flight continued, but never failed. The next time Arthur brought out the plane, he had added a wood spar in the wing. On that flight he started to wring it out! doing some rolls, and attempting to get it into a loop. That was too much for the wing and it did fail. The styrofoam gave where the wing was inserted into the fuse. you can see a few more pictures on our web page at, http://www.angelfire.com/fl5/barbiesbuzzards then click the button on the left side that says PHOTOS. Thanks for all the intrest.

Default weight

Ohh yeah, the weight, we didnt weigh it, so what ever the servos, battery, radio, and engine weight is about it.the plane itself was next to nothing.

Thanks Saito, I appreciate it. As for the weight of the bare glider, mine weighed in a 6 ounces which kinda surprised me. I've busted the wings a couple times while fooling around with mine. I just used some fiberglass reinforced packaging tape and it's even stronger now! I hope you guys continue to have fun with this extremely expensive plane!!! lol Dan

Got my prize and a nice certificate today. I wasn't really expecting anything. I thought it was a symbolic win! But thanks. I guess I'll have to hunt the wheels up and send them to the fellow who won my contest!

Thanks Again!
