Variable pitch props?
I found some old adds for variable pitch props, some from Fla. another from Germany. I can get no response from either company. Does any one know where such a product is available? Do you have any information on those companys?
If I find prints I can machine my own but it would be easier to buy one. Any help appreciated!

I do remember these from years gone by, however I do not remember seeing any lately. I do know the older ones had a problem keeping all the blades on. They were fully adjustable as far as the pitch went, however if memory seves me correctly the engineering was not correct, hence the blade seperation. Good luck with your quest, Dave

The one I heard of worked off of centrifugal force. You know the faster it spun the more pitch it had. This caused some real problems on landing. When the engine would idle the prop would flatten out and work like an airbrake. This could make landing a tricky situation.

The ones I saw were servo operated. I'm sure that this took some engineering, careful material selection, and involved quite a cost. The project it was meant for will warrant that kind of expendature.

RE: Variable pitch props?
Hi Mike
I have two of these propellors, and they are for sale.
They are Variprops, 11" in dameter, and anything from +8" to -6" pitch, all adjustable in flight.
They work on the same principle as the collective pitch adjustment, via the swashplate, on a helicopter.
They were purchased new for a project, but I crashed the project, a BN Islander, before I got around to installing them.
Both new, and unflown, and one still in it's original box.
JPEGS available on receipt of your email address.
