Default There must be a man upstairs

Last Sunday there was an incident at our local club field which had a miraculous ending. A member fired up his Fokker triplane with a Saito.72. He attempted to take off but didn't compensate for the crosswind, he horsed the tripe off the ground and it headed for the pits. the landing gear struck the safety fence in front of the pits and was out of control, another member who had just turned around was struck square in the farhead by the engine prop hub. This member was knocked down and the tripe fell to the ground, how he wasn't touched by the prop I believe was a true miracle. He suffered a nasty bruise on his farhead, that was the extent of his injuries. This event keeps playing over and over in my head, it had to be more than just a coincidence, it had to be the man upstairs.

Based on that logic the man upstairs must have caused the accident in the first place.

I believe in the man upstairs, he has saved me from a lot of things. If only he would give me an edge on RCU Poker.

Just what is a "farhead"? (Sorry, but you spelled it that way twice. )

I'd say he was pretty damned lucky.

So was the pilot. Could have been an involuntary manslaughter charge in there somewhere.

Question... if he "horsed" the plane to get airborne and seeing it headed for the pits, why didn't he pull full down and full left and just planted the offending plane where it came from (earth...) again sound like the "i want to save my plane" syndrome if he had control of the radio (no interference) that was the course of action

I think the fellow that was struck was very lucky ....

Patrick,
You're right of course, and I wish I'd pointed that out myself. The ONLY thing you should do under those circumstances is ditch the plane to avoid injuring someone.

The "farhead" is the head that is some distance from the nearhead. Hey Frank! Who was the recipient of the prop hub??

Get a bigger fence. Ours are 10ft high between the pits and the field.

Did the tripe continue flailing into the pits, or was it just the hub that came flying off after hitting the fence?
I usually duck for cover when I hear a loud *clank* at the field.

Nah, that's where the man downstairs comes in.

It sure is easy to point the finger and say what you would have done in that split second! People can really be ruthless to one another.

It was not my intention to be rude, merely pointing up what should be SOP when there is danger in the air
too many times i have seen pilots trying to save their plane while mishaps have carried them too close to espectators or fellow fliers

Your are right in saying that there is a man upstairs and for giving him credit for his protection.

I never said there is or isn't a man (or women) upstairs. As for downstairs we can also bring in the Easter Bunny and Toothfairy while we're at it. I bet some think if you are in the closet you will end up downstairs and they need to consult a moral architect at this point.

I think this whole discussion has to much religion and people with religious epitaphs as sig lines or names should be deleted along with this thread. I applaud the community policies for banning politics and religion and don't like seeing either were I come to talk about my toys. It's devisive and will only lead to off topic debates that will get personal all to often.

Believe what you want but leave it off RCU and go find a religious forum to discuss it online.

Geeze BB, lighten up, so a few guys want to extend warm fuzzies to each other. Doesn't mean we should have them vaporized from RCU for expressing their faith.

Peace be with you,
Scott
