Anybody else having trouble using Google? I can't get thru, and links to Google don't even show up on my PC, as if the site isn't there. I have the new RCU toolbar and it won't do a google search either ( It's supposed to). There is another computer using the same cable modem that can't get thru either. I don't know if it's a problem with the ISP, or Google, or even if there's something wrong with the RCU/google toolbar. I installed the toolbar a few days ago, and have noticed the problem with google since.
So, do me a favor anyone. Go see if you can get to www.google.com and do a search. Let me know if it works. This is wierd.

I'm willing to bet you have a hijacker parasite on your computer. Download the free versions of Spybot S&D, and Ad-Aware. Update them, and scan. You will be amazed at what it finds. If you feel like parting with $40, you can download the best spyware killer out there, PestPatrol. This is coming from a guy who fights this crap every darn day. Until I found PestPatrol, I spent over 200 unbillable hours last year tearing my hair out on various computers. Now that I use PestPatrol, it's easy cakes.

Could also be a temporary bad route to the site.
try a traceroute
start>run>tracert www.google.com
or start>accessories>command prompt (then type tracert www.google.com)
it will try and trace the network route to google to see if this is a routing issue and if so where it is

I don't care for toolbars.

I use spysweeper, spybot and ad-aware. I'm going to try pestpatrol too on your recommendations.
Doug - you should try our toolbar. No spyware or crud like that. We don't even track clicks on the thing. It allows you to search rcu forums direct, the market, google, highlight search words, popup blocker, link to magazine, link to our community sections directly and more. 1 minute install and if you don't like it then it takes 15 seconds to uninstall with no traces left behind. It saves me tons of time cruising rcu everyday. Oh yeah..not on by default also is a cool scrolling ticker that will show you the latest forum posts or the latest classified ads in the market.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll do the tracert thing. I already use adaware all the time, spybot and Hijackthis occasionally. I've run thru them all and still get this problem. plus the other computer on this cable modem seems to be having the same problem. So, I suspect it's not local to my PC, but I'm not assuming anything.

Just saw the mention of firefox and it prompted me try another browser to crosscheck. I have Netscape 7, but I never use it. So I started it and asked for google. It said the connection was refused....

tracert showed the problem was very local.
I'd already remotely booted the router.
Always reboot. In this case, I powered down the cable modem and the router, and when everything came back I could get to google no problem. Done.
