Hi,
I personally tried to teach Bill Conrad (who played Cannon on TV) at Sepulveda Basin several times.
He got involved with too much travelling and I lost track of his endevour.
I understand that James Stewart was also a great supporter of our hobby, but I do not know if he flew models himself.

Someone mentioned Roy Orbison, He was a big supporter of R/C and other forms of model building. His good friend Benny Burchfield (married to Jeannie Shepherd) is also a big R/C supporter. he flies super scale gas and Turbines. Jerry Rivers (Hank Williams Fiddle player was not only an R/C supporter, at one time he owned a hobby shop in Hendersonville Tennessee. Just a few of the good people that I know who build and fly R/C.

Hey...this is great! [8D]
We had our 2nd meeting today, and it went very well...
I have 5 or 6 who are very interested, and another 5-6 who are looking on with interest, including 2 girls. I think when the weather gets to where we can fly outdoors, and I can fly my Funtana there will be some more interested!

Very cool everyone...thanks!

He flew at my club, GMA, Georgia Model Aviators.

Baseball player Javy Lopez flies (Catcher, used to be with the braves), because he was on an episode of "celebrity hobbies" on the DYI channel a while back flying in his front yard and they interviewed him about for about 15 minutes.

I have two to add. Tyler Perry talked about his RC plane collection on Fallon a couple of years ago. Showed off a gorgeous twin turbine airliner. And I don't know if he still does it, but Eric Clapton had a phase in the 70's when he took a break from playing music and did nothing but build model airplanes for a couple of years.
