After reading the things that I have, you are not supposed to use the 72 megahertz band radios for any surface vechicles. I don't think it is because your car will not respond, but it is because it will cause interference between people flying airplanes and people driving cars.

If I'm not mistaken there is an FCC issue here as well. In other words I believe it is unlawful to use an FCC authorized air frequency for ground use.
As far as you truck not working, that's puzzling. If you romove the radio gear, will the servo work on you work bench? Could be an interference issue with metal parts on the truck or something.
