This being August 07 now means I got onto this thread a bit after the fact, but from the news lately it seems things coming from China have continued to go downhill at a fast pace. I heard also that one Toy Manuacturer committed suicide after the first round of Mattel Toys were Recalled for a Lead Paint complaint. Then again today I heard of another Import that is being taken off the U.S. Market. At this rate I'd be scared to buy some underpants with "Made in China on the Label. They might just fall apart on me, or around me if you will, or worst, just burst into flames! I'll just stick to my Hanes.

OMG! You mean the Chinese are sending the USA a bunch of cheap junk with little or no qaulity control? What is the world coming to? I mean, when you can't trust China...is life really worth living anymore?

This whole China trade thing needs to be reexamined.

That's called a RIPOFF where I was raised (blue collar Montana). It's not the Chinese TRADE industry anymore...it's the Chinese RIPOFF industry. A few get rich while not only do the help get screwed, but the end user is DIEING. Just another reason for me to build kits...like I needed another reason.

The news about the toy factory owner (a HK'er) is real and confirmed. He wasn't the kind that fits above reference tho. He sold his personal possession and signed the paychecks, walked around the factory and had a good chat with the "slaves" as you call it, then walked into his office and put a rope around his neck...
The workers had always liked him for how they're treated. And the paint supplier is an old friend.
The reality is you can't stay away from all Chinese products.

"Trade"? Is that what they are calling it these days? I thought a trade was where party A has an item that party B wants. Party A shows and explains the item, party B likes what he sees, and has a certain level of trust, so a trade or a trade for money follows. Both parties are happy. What China is doing is cranking out a bunch of crap; cutting corners EVERYWHERE, paying their help little to no wage, sending their poisons to the United States (lead paint is cheaper to manufactuer), and doing little or nothing about it.

In addition there are those here in the states that are doing those trades, and those in government that push the "trades" and as I see it, they have now filled 11 of their 14 objectives for that which they stand for.
ITems 1,2,3, - - 6,7, 8, ESPECIALLY 9 & 10, - 12 on the federal level, 13 BIG TIME, and 14.
11 objectives out of 14 are either well accomplished, or very close to it.
As for any far east model, I suggest a definte beefing up as I have see too many structural failures, including my own before I wised up a bit. Fortunately I still have my fingers. A couple guys I know don't have them all.

RE: ALERT - RC Planes being recalled - Explosions
Bought a couple of made in China items from a well known tool supplier on the west coast.
The first was a torque wrench. When operating the handle to set the torque value desired, the thing fell apart in my hands.
The second tool was a lub oil extraction pump for my new Jetta TDI. The pump would not screw onto the oil reservoir, thread was non-existant. When that was corrected with silicone sealant, I found the o-rings in the pump were missing. No go!
Packed both items in their boxes and returned them for my money back.
Now I dump the tool supplier's catalog every time I get one, which is very often. If I can help it, though almost impossible, refrain from purchasing Chinese made "goods".
God help Chinese astronauts if the tools I returned were examples of the technology used to put their men in space!

There were reports of Chinese pressure cookers explode and it's a miracle our astronauts finished their space trips without mishaps. What I must say is don't just listen to politicians it's not about banning Chinese imports many Chinese goods are real good yes wrong ones must be screened out and recalled if already released I'm sure that HK factory owner was very sorry his friend screwed him up and his workers aren't government slaves. I guess the design for tiny magnets and how they're fixed didn't come from this side either. I don't think Hilary is serious about it won't help in unemployment and may cause inflation too.
