Time once again for my weekly request for a status report on the Flying Machine ARF.

(it's now been 3 weeks without any news. is it time to panic yet?)

Actually, I spoke with our factory team yesterday. They are sending me a few pictures of the assembly process. Keep in mind we have two other exclusive products being manufactured at the same time. A Bell 407 heli and a ducted fan 747.

During the building process of buildingthe FMour guys came up with a few ideas. We don't know how well it will work but after the first FM's off the line we are going to produce a vacum formed fiberglass fuse for the FM. Will it hold up? I have no clue but Don will be the best test. Discussing it for months won't give usany results so I told the guysto make one. Ifthe fiberglass FM is a success we will offer the aircraft in both forms. TO be honest about it. THe fiberglass model would come in a little cheaper.

Our new website will launch in the next 45 daysand I have to have these aircraft produced, shipped, and ready for sale prior to the website going live.

I will post the pictures they send me on the FM production. Normally we wouldn't do that but I think everyone deserves to be involved with this one. You guys have waited far too long andyou should all havea front row seat asfar as I am concerned.

I should have pics today or tonight and will get them up ASAP. More to come.

Fred

Fred,
Thanks for the update! Future progress updates would be greatly appreciated.

After the East RC fiasco, I hope you can understand why a lot of us here on the FM thread are still somewhat leery of getting our hopes up again for a Flying Machine ARF.

On the other hand, it sounds like you know exactly what you are doing when it comes down to getting the Flying Machine ARF out on the market within the next 45 days. When the website and the FM ARFs are ready, I will definitely order one.......maybe even two.

The official Flying Machine ARF Countdown Clock is now at:
T minus 45 days

I don't think we should fault East RC for the FM production problems. They have other business ventures that are there bread and butter that needs most of their attention. It just so happend that they ran into so many problems manufacturing it through sources not in their control (plus the huge economy shift)that they had to safeguard their current company by putting the FM on the back burner.

They are good guys and most likley produced the FM at a later date but we (Condor Hobbies) thought the FM would be a great signature aircraft. I appreceate Don M. and Don H. allowing us to move this forward. Actually, our production time was almost cut in half from the efforts of East RC and the prototype they delivered.

My guys in China are just waking up so I am going to see what pics they will send me so I can get them up on the forum.

Later

Fred

Here is a picture of our plant in Dongguan China. On the left is the manufacturing plant and the building on the right is where all of the factory workers live.

Kind of jumping in here mid-steam, but have they determined a price on the FM? The only reason I'm asking is that I am a vet on disability and would like to know if it is even fesible for me to start saving for one being that is the only way I can hopefully get one. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it is within reason as it seems that the price on most of the nice ones out there are way out of my reach. Thanks for any info that you can provide. Joe

My fellow Flying Machine groupies.

To insure everyone receives an FM on the first shipment we have set up a pre-registration page. When your aircraft hits the warehouse it will be shipped the same day. We are not collecting payment information until we are ready to ship.

There are only 300 in the first container. To register for a FM go to

www.IWantMyFM.com

You will receive all updates via e-mail as we receive them.

We will produce the ZAP for sure. We are looking at a Condor model, Jack Daniels, and a few others. The aircraft will come in two or three colors with decal kits to choose from.

Hmmm... might have to go for the Jack Daniels... that way the wife wouldn't complain!!! She keeps saying "Jack is my friend!" I keep telling her during the drive home, "No he's not!!!"

I would like to see you offer a "reverse" ZAP scheme.............put the black color in the logo, and make the base color of the FM...ZAP Lime Green!!!

I think reversing those colors would really help these older eyes............I would really hate to build a 120 size!!!!!!!

Just a thought, what do you guys think???

Anybody out there with a usable paint program and can post some different color scheme's here!!!

Condor Hobbies is a newest RC manufacture/supplier of an exclusive line of RC aircraft, helicopters, and ground vehicles to join this amazing industry. In preparation of opening our website we are giving away one of our exclusive aircraft (The Flying Machine) and a new Aurora 9 radio and receiver as an introductory contest exclusively on RC Universe.

We are looking for an additional paint scheme for this new aircraft and if we select your scheme for production (and can achieve the rights for it for those using copy written material) we will build your custom designed aircraft for the RC community.
You can provide as many entrees as you want and if your scheme is selected, all rights to your design become the exclusive rights of Condor Hobbies and your design will be listed on our Pre-registration page located at www.IWantMyFM.com

If we select your design and you have pre-registered for a Flying Machine prior to submitting your design on this thread, you will also receive 5 additional HS 5625MG Hitec servos. Pre-registration is not required to win the contest. Just a bonus. We have provided a template in JPG format but you can find additional HD pictures located at: http://www.eagle-i.us/FM_Images/index.html

Contest will run through August, 2011 to give everyone a chance to submit their entrees. Good luck and let your freak flag fly.

ok, so here is my registration for the color scheme contest.

I am pre-registered for the ARF, of course

I beleive this was close to the "red" test scheme when the FM first came out.

I did it this way just because Red is my Favorite......not much different than the "Stock" scheme, but hey, It looks good!

Game on!
