I am looking to recieve a package with COD shipping, but I don't know how it works. What kind of payment do you give the delivery person? If it is a check or money order, who do you make it out to?? Please could someone explain how COD shipping works,

UPS won't take cash. The shipper can indicate that they will take a Personal or business check... money order or cashiers check are always accepted AFAIK.

Ok,
So then I want to pay by money order. Who would I make it out to, the seller or UPS? When the package comes would I just give the money order to the UPS guy and then he takes it and somehow UPS gets it to the seller?

You make the money order out to the seller or company that you are buying the Item from and you give the money order to the UPS driver. Ups will Issue that Money order to the seller.
Hope this helps

Wife works at UPS.
Sender would pay UPS just like any other customer, then UPS will reimburse shipping charge.
There is a charge for COD. About $6 or $7

What would the sender pay for, the shipping costs? Who would UPS reimburse the shipping charge to?

So what I do is get the money order with the correct amount on it and make it out to the seller and then when the package comes I give the money order to the UPS person and UPS ships the money order to the seller?

Yes, that's what you do. Easy deal, yes?

Make it out to UPS. I just went and dug out a bank statement. At the company where I work, sometimes we buy parts from places where we don't have an account, so we have it sent COD. If the lady who makes the company checks is not in, we either have to have the driver take it back and bring it the next day, or I can make out a pesonal check and get her to pay me back.
I did this a while back and the check was made out to UPS.
I have no idea how the seller gets their money from UPS. I can ask the accounts receiveable lady tomorrow, as we sometimes do the same thing with customers who don't have an account with us.
EDIT: Well I see another poster has given the exact opposite advice as I have, so I don't know..I guess it will work either way. I do know the check I made out in April was made out to UPS, but the company we bought the parts from was not UPS.

If you are giving the UPS driver a money order, you make it out to the seller. UPS will mail it to the seller and you as the buyer are out of the loop as soon as UPS leaves your doorstep. The only draw back to the whole deal is the seller sometimes will have to wait 3 weeks befor he get's his money, however you are enjoying what you bought. Good Luck, Dave
