Pits safety
In your club do you have a specified starting area, or do you just start your plane in the pit's and taxi to the run way? In our club all planes must be restrained while starting, but there is no specified area as such for starting.

RE: Pits safety
Our club requires restraints for starting and the plane must be carried or guided to the taxiway for takeoff.

RE: Pits safety
our club has built 4-5 starting benches adjacent to the taxiway and can only be started there or at the runway, it also has a very large kine that no engine is supposed to be running past it when it come back in

RE: Pits safety
We have an area just outside the pits for starting.
We then taxi onto the runway for takeoff.
We don't have any rules about restraining (we should).
We do have 4 starting benches which are used extensively.
A few people do still start on the ground and they are good about using a restraint.
The most popular is a leather bag full of lead, about 10 lbs., tied around the tail feathers.
Most of our people are pretty conscious about safety.
I write a monthly column for our newsletter so I keep it on thier minds.
Good Luck,
