No, the Beast is not the X47B. The beast is something different and Air Force. Look at the landing gear to see just where the difference start. Plus the exaust is different too.

Evil Merlin, you are right. I stand corrected. Look slightly similar but they are different. Landing gear on the X-47 B looks quite a bit beefier (probably for carrier duties) as well as a few other differences. Still....don't think I'd like to be on the receiving end of ANY of them..[:@]

ORIGINAL: Jim Schwagle

Northrop was in fact alive long enough to see plans and a model of the B2.
He did more than that, John Northrop at the age of 81ish, was rolled out to the hangar in his wheelchair to actaully see his life long dream, the Flying Wing, taxi out and take-off.

As an old, and I do mean "old" Marine, Korean War vintage, reading all the foregoing on the Stealth stuff started me to wondering if there is any thoughts on possibility of adapting these planes for use in Close Air Ground Support? Now that would be something. As far as Ground Pounders go though, there will still be a need for those guys. Semper Fi ! Grampaw
