RE: O'Brien Hobby experience

Guys--finally after two months and 8 days, I have my order. This was the most frustrating internet/mail order transaction I have ever experienced. I got a full measure of "It was shipped on???; We are re-shipping.; I'll check with the USPS.; Finally after all this time they shipped UPS next day air (But it took another call and a special trip by Doug to get my package "one of 52" to the UPS drop off point.) and finally a package arrives--but with only half my order. In all fairness though, I had changed my order from two to four servos shortly after it was placed, and who could remember after 60 some days. They did ship out the remaining servos that day and I now have them...Whew!!! I am not sure price is everything.

Luck to all.

USPS... just gotta remember "They're from the Government, and they're here to help you!"

On a follow-up, I'm in the process of working out a deal with O'briens to trade the servo they sent me by error for a programmer. Sent him an email this morning asking whether the Programmers were in stock yet, and got an answer within 10 minutes. Looks like things may be improving there.

I must be one of the 4 unresolved cases. I can't even get a reply to emails and this has been going on for 3 months

RE: O'Brien Hobby experience

Update...I gave them a call and was promised my order would be sent out priority mail today. I will let you know what happens further.

RE: O'Brien Hobby experience

Well, nothing yet. I was told this would go out Priority mail on Thursday, so I should have had it by now. Maybe tomorrow. It's been 3 months...what's another day[:o]

Jwest--Man I feel your pain. Mine took two months then 1/2 the order. Got the other half with no trouble. Call Doug and ask him to give you the UPS track number while on the phone. That worked for me. Luck.

RE: O'Brien Hobby experience

yep, get on the phone with him and do some serious "negotiations", i.e. either ship it now or deal with the law. I thought the guy was starting to get it together, but I guess not...

RE: O'Brien Hobby experience

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will be giving him a call and see what's what. I really hate doing this over about $35 worth of stuff, but it IS my $35 we are talking about

I talked to Tim today at O'Briens. He said my kit was mailed out on Tuesday First Class mail. Hopefully I will have it in a day or so and if so it does mean that they are working to correct previous problems. I will confirm I received it here

$35 kit? Small plane? First class mail? They said they quit using USPS due to the problems. First it's Priority mail on 5/17, then it's First Class on 5/22. Sounds like song & dance again. Good luck.

BTW - See posts #27, 37 & 40. Didn't last long.

RE: O'Brien Hobby experience

yeah, I was wondering about that. I guess I just need to wait and see.

I gotta agree... and it seems that SCALENUT52 (I think he's the owner of O'briens), seems to have vanished from the thread!

I don't know what threads Doug is reading BUT he logged on yesterday afternoon so I'm guessing he is reading this thread. He's just ignoring you.

nothing in yesterday or todays mail. I give it until tomorrow, will call one more time and then I guess I turn it over to www.ic3.gov

RE: O'Brien Hobby experience

IF he did mail it on the 22nd it could well take this long to get to you. The USPS is just not that reliable as to speed which is why Doug said he switched to UPS. He just about had his reputation patched up. It would be a shame to trash it again now.

Seems like he's bound and determined to do just that. Says he's gonna do one thing, then 2 weeks later, back to the same old tricks. Yeah, the check's in the mail...[sm=thumbs_down.gif]

True. Tim at O'Briens said I should have it in 3 days, but it is a Holiday weekend. I can give it a few more days before taking the next step.

Yep, go through the holiday with good thoughts. It can't hurt. :)

In the middle of my experience with O'Briens I would call and sometimes speak with "Doug" and sometimes "Brian." They sounded like the same person.
