filling seamlines?
By some reason I find it hard and very time-consuming to fill and sand the seam line on composite parts.
Which products and methods are you using to fill and sand the seam lines?

I went to the autoparts store and picked up "glazing putty" to fill the seams of my composite C130. It dries fast if it is in thin coats.
Be careful... it will eat foam!

I spray some high build sandable auto primer into a container, pour some microballons into a butter cup, take a 1 to 2 inch brush and dip it into the primer then dip it into the microballoons loading it up as much as possible then brush the fibeglass.
It sure looks like heck, but it will sand VERY easily. If anything is left after this that is when I pull out the heavier glazing putty mentioned above.

Hi,
I use a product called "icing" that I purchase from Car Quest auto parts. It is a two part ultra fine filler that dries VERY quickly and sands beautifully.... Bondo is junk compared to this stuf.. plus it is easy to see and takes primer very well. If you need the mfg name I'll be down at the shop later and will post if for you. Let me know.

Kirt,
I fly at Whitfield's airport in Hurdle Mills. We have permission from the owner and the club name is Tri-County R/C.... next time you come up for a visit, bring a plane, we'd be happy to have you as a guest.....as usual.. when you fly around here you have to watch for turkeys and deer on the runway......as well as planes.....

I have been using Evercoat Easy Sand. Its kinda expensive, but dries to a point you can sand it in about 10 minutes. Works very well if your in a hurry, and sands nice.
Another good product if you got time to let dry is called Super-Fil and this stuff is awesome for fillets. Sands like a dream and you can get it extremely smooth without pitting. I buy this from Aircraft Spruce.
