Default TAIL/ELEVATOR REMOVAL

I am currently repairing my tail/elevator and I can't seem to find an easy way to breakdown the epoxy glue so i can remove them. I've read there are chemicals you can use buy but won't that affect the wood?! Any help or push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!!

I dont know of chemical that will break down epoxy and not affect balsa/ply. In the past where I have needed to remove a tail assembly etc thats been epoxied in I have used a slim filleting knife with a small notch filed into the back edge near the tip and steadily gouged the epoxy out, being careful to keep the blade tip flat on the tailplane. usually takes me about 10 minutes to gouge out a tailplane with minimal damage.

Try heating the epoxy with your heat gun and it will eventually soften.
