I had heard how Nitro fuels would remove paint.
I got to try it out a while back. Some punks had used permanent black magic markers to put XXXX on the Vinyl siding on a neighbor's house. I tried various model fuels I had in stock. I first tried 5%, it barely fazed it. 10% took the gloss off. 25% took all of it off.

Excellent! Now, what about the oil marks... (that's a joke, son.)
Nitro fuels teach us about several things. E. g., I use both diesels and glows. Tygon fuel line is the in thing for gasoline or diesel (kerosene) fuel lines. I checked that by soaking some Tygon tubing in 25% nitro fuel. Within two or three days it hard turned hard, brittle and lost its opacity. Couldn't even stretch it over a fuel nipple.
Good to know...

I just bought up some Dharma silk and bought a gallon each of Randolph clear dope and thinner from Aircraft Spruce. I've read enough to not mix manufacturers products - I think the thinner was actually more expensive than the dope. Total with shipping came to $107 to NY State. I also noticed Brodak was bailing on their Randolph colors so I bought 3 or 4 pints at a pretty good discount for future projects.
