Default Line diameter and length question

My first UC since I moved to RC in the mid 1960's should be here soon. It is a Flite Streak ARF with an OS25. Since it has been a few years, what line diameter and length would you recommend? I figured .012 or .018 at 60 feet would be about right, but would prefer 70 feet to slow things own. Any recommendations for this combination? Looking forward to this nostalgic trip. Thanks in advance.

What you want is .015 cables. 70 ft may be a little long. I'd start out with 60's and run it a bit rich with a very small fuel tank as you will get dizzy after several laps. By small, I mean 1 oz. Balance the airplane about an inch behind the leading edge to start out and move the CG back as you get comfortable with it. Small steps make for long-lived airplanes.

Flying mine on 58' eyelet to eyelet 15 thousands lines. Same setup, os25la. You could legally go with 12's but 15's are more durable.

That's 12 solids, 15 cables.

I think I will go with .015 stranded at 60 feet. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I thought B ships were 12 stranded, but then again the problem was I thought!

BTW, what about Sullivan's TufStrand control lines (kevlar)? I just found out about these while looking into ordering some lines this morning.

The TufStrand lines are well thought of for stooge lines. They are said to be very draggy for flying applications. I've never used them, or seen them used, or heard a good word about them as control lines.

Thanks Jim. It seem like there was not much info about them which made them seem suspect. Will go with the cable.
