Posted this in the 1/2A forum too, but only cuzz I'd like to get anyone that doesn't fly CL flying CL, or at least thinking about it.
Got back after flying today, my flying buddy brought his new Sig Shoestring running a BigMig 15. Anyways, this thing gets around the CL circle at around 3.10 sec a lap on the Norvel 15 running 10%25% SIG Champion fuel and a 7x5 APC prop. Airplane is SIG Dope and was still smelling good at the circle and in my shop afterwards as we got the lines cut down to race legal.
This is a good combo and seems to be pulling just fine with my SIG Shoestring with the ubiquotous FOX 15 BB CL engine on the front. I do have a Buster that runs a might faster, but will be using neither in race this year in Topeka. There I have a George Lieb designed Starduster under construction, it's a little more competitive, though I don't know how much faster I can handle with more than myself up in the center of the circle. I have several of these SIG planes ready to go for the learning curve.
Anyways, the airplane is cute as a bug and I think it was a combo deal from SIG a bit ago, don't know if it still is.
AMA Scale Race I legal, here's a picture of John and plane:
Can't wait to get more than one of these in the air at a time, that ought to get exciting.

Just as a useful thing to know; 1/2 mile is 7 laps on 60 ft lines. 21, 20, 19, 18 sec, respectively, are @ 85, 90, 95, 100 MPH.

54 ft. lines? Sure it is not 52.5 ft? At 52.5 ft, 8 laps = 1/2 mile. That's what Goodyear used to be back in the 70's, and what is used in various Sportsman-type Goodyear classes around the country. Limited (= ST G15) Goodyear in the upper Midwest switched over to 60' when the Goodyear rules changed. Don't think it is flown anymore.

Yeah, but the guy who cut the lines didn't realize that it was supposed to be centerline to centerline so he's got 2 extra feet.
