Guillows warbirds work out pretty good. They require some mods to the airframe to fly well ...

It depends a lot on what you're wanting to do. Scale, Stunt, Speed, Sport. You could get the plans for one of the Dick Sarpolus profile plank wing ships and have a decent sport ship with some aerobatic capability without investing a lot of time on construction.

Why not build a Brodak 1/2A Pathfinder?

Wing Span: 35
Plane Length: 27
Wing Area: 236
Engine: .049 to .070

I have one I can sell you if your interested.
