First thing you need to know is that unless someone found a way to mount a Cox engine in that car it won't have a Cox engine but a Testor's engine.
Cox made lots of cars and such. Many more than Testor's did by comparison. Many parts for the Cox cars are fairly easy to find on Ebay. Much less so for the Testor's cars. It would pretty much be the best shot you have of finding one.
Must have patience.
One more thing. To my knowledge those cars never had a throttle to attach a cable to. I never had the Testor's cars so I could be wrong. Cox on the other hand had several cars and a Chopper trike that had a way of setting the throttle before you let it go off. Only with modification could it be adjusted after you let go.
What I am thinking you are asking for sounds to me like the needle valve that has the flexible wire extension and a small knurled knob at the end to adjust the fuel mixture. The needle end would thread into the side of the venturi.
Take a look at the picture in post #14 of this thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8377365/tm.htm and see if what you are asking for is sticking out the back end of this car.
You might also get better results to this question if you were to get the moderator to move this thread to the Half A forum found here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_70/tt.htm
Good luck, Robert

I suspect that Robert is correct - that all you need is the needle valve. Even that might only have the little cable extension broken off, and the needle valve itself may still be OK (although difficult to access).
There is one other on-line asset that you may want to check out - there is a Yahoo group dedicated to the little 1/2a's of all flavors and an appeal there for help might net you a new needle:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/049Collectors
You will have to join the group, so you will need a Yahoo ID, but no spam originates from this group because the moderator keeps a tight lid on it, so no spam-bots can get in. It is very active and believe me, someone on this group has the part you need. Sorry, I already checked my needle valve bin, and I don't have one.
