No - they have a different thread. You can still get Cox heads but Testor's heads have not been made in some time. You can only hope to find them used/ebay'd/ or offered on used engines. I think that Mecoa might have a conversion head that allows you to put a standard glow plug on one, but unfortunately the (already anemic) performance will degrade even more if you use one.

[sm=wink_smile.gif] One of the few advantages of getting old - you learn things (eventually) and if you are lucky, you can pass the info along.

Scott - if you are at all serious about trying to fly some 1/2A - spend your money on Cox engines and either keep the Testors/McCoy in a collection or sell them to a collector. Yes, some of them MAY run Ok, but they will cause you more headaches than they are worth. The Cox's can be had for about the same money as you will spend on JUST THE GLOWHEAD of the Testor's and will be much less of a headache. If you just GOTTA fly the Testors, then get a Cox anyway and set up the plane around it - you can then switch to the Testors and maybe save a few runs on those glow heads.

This is good to know. I've got a little Testors .049 laying around and always assumed a Cox plug would fit. Thanks for the advice.

If you really want to fly a Testors, try finding its predecessor, the Wen Mac, which was available with a head that took a standard short reach glow plug.

I have a Wen Mac .049 mk2 that is a really easy starting sweet running little engine. No powerhouse - about 15,200 RPM on a Cox 5x3 - but super easy to start and tune. Its going in a Walt Musciano designed control line model, probably the Stunt Master from Blackhawk models.

cheers,
Colin

You guys running std plugs in these small engines might like to try a Merlin std plug ( type 2016)with glowbee style flat element, these will give less compression loss.

Interesting thought. Might be worth a try in my Wen Mac.

These will not fit Testors, McCoy or Wen-Mac engines with the intergrated glow head.

My wife got a half dozen Wenmacs cheap at an auction. I sold all but the two oldest ones for $5 each. I've bench run both of them. They took some break in before they came to life in the sense of being easy to start and running consistantly. I was thinking of putting them on little sport freeflight models, where I do not want a lot of power.

Some years ago, I was at a swap meet in Chicago. Someone had a half dishpan full of WenMac/McCoy plugs, so they are out there somewhere.
