Re: Sterling F-16

I have a few questions regarding the Sterling F-16; I assembled this kit basically stock some 10+ years ago and enjoy flying it straight and level on occasion...(took pics to post here) Is the A-10 complement available in plans form? Is this type of airplane (F-16) capable of looping successfully? Just as a matter of interest, I remember having lots of fun with a Sterling Junior Ringmaster Bipe and one of their warbird series - the 1/2A profile Spitfire - are these at all available as plans or after-market/mfg kits?

I've never flown the F-16, but just looking at it Ican imagine that it has way too much weight forward. I'd remove the engine/mounts and cut the fuselage back as far as possible (looks about like 1") and then remount the engine. I'd also increase the elevator area by about 25% or so.
Good luck!
P.S. Nice job on the finish!

I bought the engine sometime in the mid/late 90's. I don't know what defines a real Black Widow but I looked at it this morning and it appears to have a resin backplate and metal tank housing. The cylinder has two bypass ports. The faded red annodizing on the spinner is showing its age...

That is a cute model - you did a nice job on it. I have to agree that with that long nose, this model will be extremely nose heavy and very hard to add enough lead to the tail to fix it. If you want to slap together something more aerobatic, I would suggest getting a Sig 1/2A Skyray - builds quick and flies well.

Noticed yesterday there was a thread for the other one in the series - the A-10 but it's on the "other guy's network" with numerous nice pics - perhaps it would make a more capable looper as it has a more conventional planform? These are two airplanes I regard as the last of a dying breed for simple Sterling C/L kits at hobby stores... I'd really like to get an A-10; are full size plans available?

No A10, but look here
http://www.blackhawkmodels.com/dicks.html very nice kits that fly well.
You could just draw it up yourself. Nothing complicated about a all shaat control liner
