I made a start on a profile Spitfire stunt model today and plan to do a build thread for you guys to follow. Great to see someone producing new C/L kits instead of re- releases of 50 year old designs, so well done Steve Adams of Select Hobbies. Lets get started.
The bottom spar is cut to length and pinned over the plan and the full length ribs glued to it. I numbered the ribs to avoid any confusion as some are different lengths. Next the trailing edges, pieces W3 and centre joining brace go on, lay the T/E strips over the plan to line up the rib notches and see where each end needs to be trimmed to length. When dry fit the top spar.
Next comes the W1 pieces, the dowell L/E and centre join brace. Glue the W2 tip pieces in place. When dry add all the short riblets and it starts to look like a Spitfire wing, more tomorrow...........John

Idon't know about you guys, but as a builder, there's almost something sexy about watching a wing take shape, especially one as sweet as a Spitfire!

Hi folks, I´m too building a profile Spitfire 15. Unfortunately my camera is broken, so I can not post any pics.
My spitfire will use a Fox 15 X
The plans were made by a friend based in a vintage profile design in which he made some structural improvements and modernizations
Regards

The bellcrank, pushrod and lead out assembly was attached to the plate and glued in place. The bellcrank pivot bolt seats on the bottom spar.
I like to use plastic coated game fishing wire and matching crimps for the lead outs. The correct crimping pliers crimp along the sleeve, not across it, which can cut the wire inside the sleeve. The wing tip leadout guides were epoxied in place. Everything is operating smoothly and as it should be, so I'll sheet the centre section next.........John

The wing is pretty much finished, more sanding and finishing needed. The wing flaps will not be moveable, they'll be added AFTER the wing is fitted to the fuselage.
The ten pieces that make up the fuselage have been all glued together over the plan. I find exterior PVA plenty strong enough, but, you could use epoxy for the nose area and engine mounts. I had a small problem removing the ply doublers from their sheet, needed the scroll saw to avoid damaging them.
All going together nicely, most of the hard stuff is done now, I'm offline for a few days, see ya Tuesday.

The wing and fuselage are joined, the wing slid right through with minimal trimming needed. Don't forget the U/C wire needs to be in place first. The U/C limit dowells are glued in and the elevator mount plate and elevator assembly glued in place. I used mylar hinges, narrowed to 1/4" wide to soften their action. The wing flaps are glued in position..........John

I'm planning on using an OS LA .15. The span is 38", if you email Select Hobbies they'll give you the info, might be too new for the website. They also do a P-51 and a PT 19, both .15 profilers.......John.

Sorry about that jayseas, I've been busy with other pursuits. It is nearly done, should get to sanding covering and painting in a couple of days. I think it will be a Seafire, light green and grey, Fleet Air Arm.........John.
