I dont know how many guys frequent RCG, but i did a build log there & wanted to post some finished pics of my Brodak Shoestring here also. It has a Mcoy .35 just recently re conditioned by Chellie Romo & is covered with silkspan & Brodak dope. Not much activity on the controline forum here, so heres the pics to liven it up.....Gene:D

Thanks, F Imbriaco, I am aware of stunthanger. I wanted to try and pump some life back into the contol line forum here....Gene

Looks gooding plane, Gene. This Brodak kit is a remake of Carl Goldberg's 42 inch span Shoestring Stunter?

gene6029 11-07-2013 03:00 AM

Yes it is. I believe Brodak retaines the rights to most of the old Carg Goldberg control line kits. It is a nice kit & comes with fantastic wood.I allways wanted to build the Shoestring & Brodak made it possible....Gene

GallopingGhostler 11-07-2013 03:37 AM

Gene, that Shoestring is really sharp looking and a really nice job on the wings with silkspan and dope. I like how the McCoy's Red Head really compliments the plane's red trim. Paint is Brodak / Randolph Cub Yellow?

gene6029 11-07-2013 09:24 AM

Thanks GG for the comments. Yes, i used Brodak Cub Yellow & Insignia Red on my shoestring. I put a top coat of Brodak crystal clear over everything. It still needs to be hand rubbed out, but I'll wait a while before that.....Gene

Gene- that is the finest SS I've ever seen.I love the wheelpants (am so jealous). Did Chellie's tweak work on the RH? Tried her quick fix on a Ebay Rh and it did run -don't know how long it will last. Just don't have that Sassy Blonde's touch. WC:eek::eek:

gene6029 11-09-2013 03:47 AM

Thanks Kozmo77. Yes, that .35 red head Never ran this well! She did a great job on my .35 & i plan on sending her others....Gene

Hi Gene6029. Really nice job on the shoestring. I have the shoestring from Goldberg, but it doesn't look anywhere near this nice!

Beautiful, just beautiful.

I have a soft spot in my heart for control line after picking it up a few years ago.

When will you fly it, and when you do please let us know what you think.

Very nice job! I am building a brodak Tomahawk, I posted it to the build thread stunt hangar. What covering did you use for the wings?

gene6029 02-28-2014 02:53 AM

RCfred, i covered my Shoestring with silkspan & dope. I have a complete build thread on RCgroups in the controline forum, entitled "Brodak Shoestring build" if you want to see my process....Gene

RCfred_68 02-28-2014 03:53 PM

Gene Where can I find that build thread?

Gene, just stumbled on this. Great build. You are a master craftsman. Here is my Buster done in silk with an OS FP 20. Great flyer.

Hi Rubbernecker - really nice Buster. I've wanted one of those kits for a long time. I may have to break down and order one from Brodak after seeing yours. :) I used to do silk and dope, but don't have the patience or time anymore - would have to be ultracote for covering.

Rubbernecker 03-02-2014 07:35 AM

Thanks. This was my first silk job. Have done numerous silkspan, but never silk. Was just as easy, but like you said, very time consuming. Silkspan is just too easy to punch a hole in, hence the reason for the silk.

Very nice looking Buster there John! I allways wanted to build a Buster, maybe some day..............Gene
