Default Brodak Shoestring

I dont know how many guys frequent RCG, but i did a build log there & wanted to post some finished pics of my Brodak Shoestring here also. It has a Mcoy .35 just recently re conditioned by Chellie Romo & is covered with silkspan & Brodak dope. Not much activity on the controline forum here, so heres the pics to liven it up.....Gene

Yes it is. I believe Brodak retaines the rights to most of the old Carg Goldberg control line kits. It is a nice kit & comes with fantastic wood.I allways wanted to build the Shoestring & Brodak made it possible....Gene

Gene, that Shoestring is really sharp looking and a really nice job on the wings with silkspan and dope. I like how the McCoy's Red Head really compliments the plane's red trim. Paint is Brodak / Randolph Cub Yellow?

Thanks GG for the comments. Yes, i used Brodak Cub Yellow & Insignia Red on my shoestring. I put a top coat of Brodak crystal clear over everything. It still needs to be hand rubbed out, but I'll wait a while before that.....Gene

Thumbs up Spankin'

Gene- that is the finest SS I've ever seen.I love the wheelpants (am so jealous). Did Chellie's tweak work on the RH? Tried her quick fix on a Ebay Rh and it did run -don't know how long it will last. Just don't have that Sassy Blonde's touch. WC

Hi Gene6029. Really nice job on the shoestring. I have the shoestring from Goldberg, but it doesn't look anywhere near this nice!

Beautiful, just beautiful.

I have a soft spot in my heart for control line after picking it up a few years ago.

When will you fly it, and when you do please let us know what you think.

Gene, just stumbled on this. Great build. You are a master craftsman. Here is my Buster done in silk with an OS FP 20. Great flyer.

Hi Rubbernecker - really nice Buster. I've wanted one of those kits for a long time. I may have to break down and order one from Brodak after seeing yours. I used to do silk and dope, but don't have the patience or time anymore - would have to be ultracote for covering.

Thanks. This was my first silk job. Have done numerous silkspan, but never silk. Was just as easy, but like you said, very time consuming. Silkspan is just too easy to punch a hole in, hence the reason for the silk.
