Dennis,...

Thank you for your input. Sounds very possitive and hopeful that the parts I ordered will fit my little OS .10 Max. More importantly,... it seems like this engine will be exactly what I'm looking for on my Flying Clown (... I've got to get busy building that, ha!)

Thanks again for your response to my questions, advice and help from good follks like you is greatly appreciated!!

Sincerely,
Steve T.

Hey Guys,...

I finally finished my Flying Clown!!

Looking back over these posts, I realize that I purchased the kit August 15 of last year and just flew it for the first time today. Three days shy of ten months!! How's that for quick building, ha!!

I'm using the OS Max 10 turning a 7 X 4 prop. Flying it on .012" X 48 foot lines. Gives great line tention, something I'm not used to with my 1/2A's. It seemed to be a bit sluggish on the controls, perhaps nose heavy. I removed the landing gear, and then the nose cone to try and move the CG back. Only then did I feel comfortable enough to try a loop. Might have to add a touch more weight to the tail. Once again I'm used to the sensitivity of the 1/2A's so htat might be something I need to get used to as well.

Thanks again for everyone's help, suggestions, and advice. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge and experience here on RCU. Its a great resorce to turn to when dabbling in a new aspect of this hobby.

Sincerely,
Steve T.

My first "large" C/L was a Ringmaster Jr. that my dad bought for me in 1959. I had a K&B torpedo 15 on it and it flew just fine. I still have the engine but the plane is long gone. My best friend has a Ringmaster Jr now and he is running an OLD fox 15 on it and ot runs great. Engine is from the early 60's with the steel fins and one piece cylinder. We fly it on 52 foot 012 lines just like all the medium size C/L airplanes

Here are some photos of my Flying Clown in flight. Taken this past weekend on "Father's Day"!!

I am sure getting to enjoy this airplane a lot!! Finally got up the nerve to try inverted flight and horizontal eights. The Clown flys through these maneuvers so gracefully, with constant line tension throughout the maneuver. So much better than any of the 1/2 A stuff I've been flying.

Sincerely,
