all i can say is D'OH, as the famous Mr Simpson would say. wonder what he was thinking standin at the end of the runway? "oh i am an idiot, i just stand here to stop the planes that overrun the runway!" dang!!!
oh i mean to do that!!! i know thats what he has got to be sayin!!!
just goes to show ya, if ya stand in the right place you will get whats comin at ya!!!!
i can't stop laughin! i do feel sorry for the guy and his plane though.
doesn't look too hurt but i bet he got into that dude's arse that it hit!!!
of course he is filing a lawsuit to get his 100k dollars for the "accident"!!!

hings:
1. that plane is a gorgeous piece of work. nice whoever did it!
2. that guyy should not have been in the way, if he was there for a reason he should have been farther back to help it or whatver his duty was. Good thing he wasnt hurt and the plane looked like it got away clean as well.
nice find on the vid

Is this another case of a reaward C.G. and consequently a very 'tippy' plane.
Good save but I hope they dont use the guy at the end of the strip as a catch net on a carrier
Cheers
Phil

Thanks for posting the link to the 747 clip! I almost fell off my chair laughing when I watched it. I'll have to share that one with my flying field buddies. Thanks again![sm=biggrin.gif]

Here's my guess. You can easily see the runway is tiny and way too short for that plane. I bet he was there on purpose to stop it, but the intention was for it to touch down on the numbers not off the other end.

I agree with Mike_Mc...
The 747 clearly tip stalls at about 10 to 15 feet just before touchdown. If the pilot didn't stall the plane, he would have landed on the numbers and he would have the entire length of the runway to bleed off speed. It probably has no brakes and that is why the guy at the end of the runway is needed
The pilot throttled up to gain speed to recover from the tip stall, which caused him to overshoot the runway. The nose wheel still hasn't touched down yet when it reached the end of the runway! The guy was just too slow to get out of the way.

, lucky no major damage was done.
