Switches
I lost a plane today due to a switch failure. This switch has been through a couple of crashes and was tested before being installed in current plane, and used for at least 1.5 hours of fliying this week. I lost all radios right after takeoff, A/C climbed out and proceded to turn to the right. I double checked TX switch to check if TX was on. A/C would not respond to any inputs. It headed towards us across the runway at about 75 ft. at half power nose up. I hollered heads up and A/C stalled and crashed.
On exmaining the remains at home later, contempating thr re-build I noticed the fibre board the switch is soldered to had a hairline crack. This the only thing that does not check out on plane that could cause this.
This is something the oldtimers probally know, but after today I am going to throw away any power switches, even if they look good.
Here are some before and after photos.

Yoda would have helped!
Sorry about your crash. I suffered a bad one myself a few weeks ago and I still can't bring myself to post the pictures. It hits you in the gut that is for sure.
If you have seen the new Star Wars movie, you would know that Yoda can help with any darn thing he wants to help with. That little guy kicks some serious butt!
Good luck with the rest of your flying season and don't give up.

Switches
As you know it is part of the hobby. I have spiked 2 planes in the last 7 days. One was pilot error. The place that we have to fly in leaves no room for error. (I am only 1 year into the hobby although I have been flying full size for 30 years..... 90% floatplanes) I am fortunate that building airplanes is something I like to do do> don't get wrong now, I would rather fly but if I break it I fix it so I can fly.
Problem right now is I should have had my 4*60 on the field 2 weeks ago and all of this fixing is screwing that up:-(
We have an application in to local Port Authority for some property to build a proper field on, but right now we have permission to fly at a barge loading yard after hours. I will upload a photo so you can appreciate our flying area.
This is the approach to runway 25. Sometimes there is a crane to the right of the approach too.
