Default Aerobird nose repair

Probably not a huge issue but I attempted to land my Aerobird on a vertical surface. [:@] This resulted in a dent in the nose. Any suggestions on repairing this or should I just leave it?

Most likely, that dent won't have much on an effect in flight. BUt, if you what you could do, is mix up some 30min epoxy with micro-balloon filler, load the dent up with that lightweight filler. Once it's cured, you just sand it down. Then slap a little paint onto the nose and you'll see no difference.

Those Aerobirds are pretty tough planes, what'd you hit to do that?

Some moron built a wooden container for a large trashcan on the sidelines on the soccer field I was flying at. I sorta mis-judged it.

Oof, don't worry about hitting trashcans.
I was flying my Goldberg "Electra" sailplane at this sports field near my house. While landing it, I forget that there was one of those oil drum style trashcans. I was lucky enough to miss it by like an inch or so, but those trash cans'll sneak up on you.

Ugh! That's exactly what happened to me...except I didn't miss!

Anyway...think I can just pop the nose back out?

James.

If you want to remove the dent.......

Remove the forward styrofoam.....use a heat gun to "warm" the plastic, and push it back out with your thumb......DO NOT heat to the point of melting....just warm enough to make the plastic plyable....replace the styrofoam with some double sided tape after it cools....and it will look like new....!

Note: use a Monokote glove, rag or something to protect your thumb from the heat......

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll work on it sometime this week.

Thanks again for the suggestions. I worked on this last night and it went extremely well. I applied a little heat with my heatgun then formed it back out from the inside. Looks awesome...as good as new.

Now I'm ready to fly again!
