Local fun fly 17 & 18 , 14 planes crashed 9 the last day. What make me sick is no pic's!!!
My Royal P51 full scale TSI 110 engine poring on the coal and TX dies. The plane went straight in about 1/2 mile from the field , 200 foot circle of balsa and gear most to small to pick up.
A LT 40 lost elavator on take off, straight up and straight down into a tent in the pits no one even got a scratch . might be a laundry bill for some one.
FUN HE$$

I am going to try tis again
A 30 year old P51 went in thanks to the supper cycle. everyt thing checked out after maiden but on takeoff run batteries died. Who would worry about the batteries with only about 5 min. time on them. When I checked it out the SC had burned out and the battery was not charged.
I will bend over while every one takes a kick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My God isn't this fun.
PS.
4 of the planes were mine that includes the LT 40
Heat wind and dumb thumbs!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, thats a lot of planes to trash in a short time. I went to my first fun fly a few weeks ago. 20+mph the majority of the time. Only one person lost a plane due to trying to do a hot dog landing while deadstick. A few other small repairs is all. There were over 80 fliers and I thought it was a shame to lose that one plane. I guess we were fortunate.

Just for the smart ass's out there I was not the only one haveing problems out there and it was not funny. There were people that checked my radio while I was picking up the peaces AND IT WAS DEAD lost a cell in the TX. and don't worry I don't think you guy's are worth flying with! Some times you can fly for years and not have a problem then all hell breaks loose. There was another man out there that lost 5 planes not much fun watching this happen. Wish you all well! I hope that you do not have this happen to you. Make's you feel great !!!!!!!!!!

I didn't think I made you that mad when I would not fly the 51 with all the BS that I was getting Saturday. I did not want to take any chances! In have a lot of people hear that no what I am talking about. Then there are people that can't do anything wrong they are the best If you don't believe it ASK BEN

You guys are not giving RC Outlaw a chance. I know this things can happen. and if you don't believe him, don't post, and much less to insult like BEN FLYN did. I think it is pretty much devastating that a guy that has 30 years with a plane crashed it and you cal him an idiot. YOU are the idiot thinking he would intentionally crash his 30 year old plane. Again, this things do happen, and Outlaw is just sharing his experiences in what's supposed to be a family and freindly site. Come on people.

Having attended this Fun-Fly only on Saturday I feel I have to add my 2 cents worth to this post.
First, let me say that the Sterling Miniature Aircraft Association (where this fly was held) is one of the best, friendliest and safest clubs I have ever been associated with. I was a member of this club for several years prior to moving out of the area. I feel that the comments by "RCOutlaw" concerning the number of crashes are unfair to the club and the people associated with this Fun Fly. I would want to verify the number of crashes and severity of each prior to forming an opinion about this event.
Second, RCOutlaw is one of the most inexperienced pilots I have observed in my many years of RC flying. His experience level is not up to the level to be flying the aircraft he attempts to fly at times. He should stick with "trainer" type aircraft until he achieves the skills necessary to handle more advanced aircraft. His radio equipment is also in need of replacement or serious repair due to it's age and condition. His claim of "elevator failure" during the LT-40 crash was actually the elevator servo (in his words) coming disconnected from the receiver. A failure such as this normally does not occur unless the equipment is worn beyond use or not properly assembled to begin with. Enough of this--I think everyone reading this will start to get the message at this point.
The most upsetting fact concerning this situation was his attitude after the LT-40 crash. He was laughing and making jokes about it without concern for the people that were in the tent or the equipment that was damaged. The owners of this equipment even made the comment "this is the 2nd time this has happened in a month" referring to RCOutlaw. This is not the attitude of a responsible person in this "sometimes dangerous" hobby. I am confident that the officers and members of SMAA will look into the situation with RCOutlaw and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of it's members.

***thanks for shedding some light on this***
I would have been more than pissed if some idiot like that was to fly that way around me and my property! Especially if that sucker laughed after his junk-***** plane came through the top of my tent and landed right beside me!!!![:@]
Somebody would've had a transmitter shoved where the sun don't shine[X(]

Based on hpeckham's comments if they are true:
If that's the case then the club itself is at fault as much as he is. Putting a huge halo over the clue's head is totally out of line and the club safty officers are at fault as much if not more than the pilot in question. His equiment problems and flying abilities and crash record seems to be very well known yet he is allowed to continue to fly in the same mannor without being controlled.
Personally I'm sick and tired of hearing the "you might kill somebody" BS on RCU. OMG it sounds like we all have homing devices implanted in our heads at birth and if the slightest minor issue happens with anything the plane is magicly guided right at our temple. Maybe it's happened but I've never heard a real story of somebody being killed. A lot of make up stories. i.e. the ones with baseless claims and no facts. In this case the plane hit the tent and that's bad but really what difference is it if crashed into the runway at the far end? Then it would have been funny and nobody would have cared. People post crash stories here about doing a lot more stupid things than this but in this case the plane randomly hit the tent and now the pilot is an evil criminal even though he did nothing more stupid than the other million crash stories here.
You know the imfamous kinfe edge jet crash video we've all seen a hundred times. Pilot error attempting knife edge at high speed low altitude caused that crashand that means he was exceeding his abbilities and it was a jet going in excess of 100 mph but nobody said anything about him being unsafe.
Being a bad person should be based on intent not result. I don't see how his intent was any different than all the other "i did something stupid and crashed" stories.
Why am I the only person that thinks this or not afraid to say it?

I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I ain't gonna stay around where there's an incompetent idiot with a bad track record of crashing!
You can go pitch a tent beside him if you like...but I wouldn't hang around folks like that.
