ooops, I made a mistake. My buddy reminded me that on that particular crash, the wing had folded up on him, and yes, that's the clunk on the ground there!

The plane and engine had 9 flights on it this was the 9th . I think the wings folded from flying it a little harder than it was meant for like high speed dives .

I won't even joke with " that can be repaired, easy". Sorry man, its tough to loose so much kit like that from a crash.

rik1024,

The Avistar is one of my favorite planes, strong, and relatively easy to fly, but still does some fun stuff especially with a .46 engine. I was sorry to see your plane in pieces.

One day I was pylon racing mine when either the rubber bands or the wing dowels broke and the fuselage became a lawn dart, with pretty much the same results as yours. It took the wing about 2 minutes to flutter down. I was able to get a replacement fuse off of eBay. Several months later, I let a friend fly the "rebuilt" plane, who crashed it into a squirrel, fuse was pretty much toast again, but the wing survived. My friend rebuilt this and flies it from time to time. On other occasions, I've torn the ailerons off, ie the CA hinges tore, pulling up from a dive.

Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that if your wings folded on an Avistar, well, perhaps you didn't have enough glue holding them together. If you happened to have bought the RTF version, well, I recommend gluing the wing halves together. IMHO, the Avistar wings are so strong, they won't fail unless they had been damaged previously, or not enough glue was used.

Hope you get back in the air quickly, and good luck!

Had lots of glue it tore out the wing root and broke the wing jointer. This was just a cheap plane to play around with i have 5 other planes that are alot better than that one( was) so i am not going to fix it . I just wished that the engine would have lived .
