All,
I am interesting in statistics of crashes RC planes. I am thinking according to my small experience: ~ 60-70% of all crashes happening on stages TAKE-OF and LANDIONG.
From this part - 2/3 happening during landing.
Who can give comments or think different?
Please response.

I vote the following as you need to distinguish between crashes.
Recoverable crash: Novice on take off. Usualy too much elevator and stall...
Total loss: Novice on landing. Usualy drift into something or wing over due to wind OR Expert doing stunts too close to the ground.

my experience is the opposite. I've buried only 3 planes in, but two were mechanical failure. (wing folded on avistar, tail broke after snapping out of knife edge on sig se) my third crash was all my fault, low high alpha flight with SE #2 and I inadvertantly flew into the sun, which was already low on the horizon. next thing I heard was a crunching noise...

When you're close to the ground minor mistakes happen more frequently, hence the Take-off and landing crashed. I've only had one plane that took some time to repiar and that was due to an engine loss at low speed, inverted, close to the ground.

Just my 2 cents, but from what I've seen on here, most crashes actually happen during flight....er, duh. Sorry, Meant other than the takeoff or landing phase. I agree that rookie pilots (like me) are more likely to crash on take off or landing, but for the rest of you, doing stunts, 3D, etc. At least that's the way it looks to me.

Gliders and dead sticks that are to far down Wind
Power planes lack of thorough flight checks before each flight
are main causes of incedences

My 3 demolitions....
H9 Arrow (1st plane, had 34 flights) upon turning right to line up for landing, kept giving right aileron instead of straigtening out. Augured into cornfield thus toasting the whole damn thing.
Cessna Skylane In a slow left hand turn, crystal had fractured thus giving no control. Spun into ground. Complete destruction.
H9 Twist Upon take off, battery came loose from connector, plane crashes into ground. Fuse destroyed but wing only needs a 15 minute repair.
The Twist and Cessna could have been avoided with a more diligent pre-flight check. Live and learn!!!

1. I hold in high respect your opinion.
2. If to exlude engine`s problems, stall, rough mistakes of pilots, then I am thinking, that stages take-off/landing "take" at least more 50% of all crashes.
3. During if landing "work" more dangerous factors aerodynamic unstability creases more fast, inevitable uneven surfice of a strip fluence more, fluence of landing speed...
At the same time during take-off - full speed only without problem.. . Beside aerodynamic stability increases very fast, therefore uneven of surfice isn`t important.
4. In our rc clube I sow crashes on stage take-off ~2-3, on stage landing ~5.
I good understand that it is NO STATISTIC, but...samthing.
Any way: have clear sky.
PS. For Sina: 2 crashes of my RC parachute (take-off and landing)
