6 Inches,

I've cracked mine up worse than that and have repaired it no problem. Use foam-safe CA. After it's repaired cover the sides from the cowl to the front of the rudder with clear packing tape. That will make a signifcant difference in the strength.

Rebuild it! See pics. 3mm Depron, 1/8" medium balsa truss, stronger & as light as the original.

HI

it looks as if you were lucky to only do a small ammount of damage. A bit of foam safe glue and you should be fine.

This is a nice plane. However, I feel its poorly made with foam thats too thin. I had one over the summer. When I finished it, took it out to the barn where the "house gestapo" was cleaning horse stalls to show it off. Wife said, "its nice" and proceeded to hold it. She poked a hole in the side of the fuse. They made the wings out of 6 mm depron, why didn't they make the sides out of it too?

Try http://www.3dfoamy.com/

I really don't have any better pics, sorry. Everything is buttoned up now, but basically, just frame out the gear & firewall areas with the 1/8" balsa to brace things, making sure that the plywood pieces will contact the balsa.

I'm also a student at vanier. I don't have any small electrics. The only plane I ever take to vanier is one of my small spads to just cruise around with. Bill Moore gots alot of room but, not enough for me.
