Yow!! That P-38 really went in hard. Only lack of impact footage rules it out as a true classic, otherwise: LOTSA $$, Big plane, witnesses, and LOTSA bits = 7/10

Spratrbo: Nice crash, but it lacked the "Nein nein nein" factor sorry Still, I admire your determination. You can always rely on "mates" to egg you on too eh! I think one aileron remained attatched too - you weren't trying hard enough......bdavison's right - needed concrete

At least my 68 Ef Yak had a white could of frozen cornfield dust kick up.....[&:]

That looked like a failure of some sort. [X(]

Not dumbthumbs. Mine was dumbthumbs. [:-]

Hard to say, but if you listen to the commentator at about the 28 sec. mark, it sounds like he said gear up at about the same time the plane roll's.

Could have been a programmable mixing mistake, or an inadvertent hit of a snap roll switch...one can only speculate.

Snap Roll??? If he had a snap roll switch programmed for that model........never mind.

Looked like something broke, jammed or was programmed wrong. It really stinks holding the transmitter while watching your plane crash itself. I've been there, we've all been there.

I had 20 seconds to watch my 87" Yak flat spin to the ground[X(][X(] with a wing rotated and tube bent. I wish I would have just closed my eyes.

I know it's a case when and not if you're going to crash you plane, and they say that the best thing to do is to jump right back into the saddle and carry on.......[sm=crying.gif]

But it sure is a good learning curve to listen to what the guys say why the plane went in.

*** what a tool... hope this guy has nothing but bad luck w. every plane he owns...sad

I originally posted this on the 3D area but I want to see the memory of this plane live on as it died over there. I don't know if this qualifies as I did this on purpose. Still fun though.

At least he did it to himself. I can't say I have not crashed a model on purpose, lots of guys do.

Sometimes ireverent fun is funny, others time not. Timing is everything. But, I have to say, almost everytime I watch a video like that , the guy or guys in it look like boobs. Like, pouring beer on a running engine, crashing a plane, running over it, stomping on it, deliberately flying a broken model, .....all good sophmoric fun, ....but you look stupid on video doing it. Fun at the time.

I used to get worked up about it, being a safety officer, but it aint worth it. Do it at my field , a very public field, and you get kicked out.

Look at XXXXXX's videos, some of them, he looks like a boob, doing some really stupid things. Cool at the time...in private. Fun is fun, but looking at yourself making a donkey out of yourself later will make you wonder why you did it.

I guess I will throw my 2 cents worth in..

The music might be considered "questionable" by some.. so if you have any rugrats scampering around, turn the sound down...

This one rates just as good if not better than the roo crash. This is my friend showing off a little bit. Looks like a Nascar style crash with a jet. Pieces are flying off in every direction.

Nice - looks like dumb-thumbs?. 7.5/10. No fireball - vital ingredient of the mythical 10/10 - but a good effort all the same.

Those jet jockeys seem to have spectacular crashes down pretty good - deep pockets?

You guys got to be kidding me?

I might be biased, but I think this is the best crash video of all time. I mean I like the kangaroo, its fast and devastating, but the odds of my crash footage beats all. Plus over 300,000 downloads, that I know of. 2nd place in RC universes worst crash contest, here it is, head-on.

Plane is 30 years old, and was rebuilt in 40 hours time, 6 days, still flys today.

I'll add a few to the frey.

[link=http://www.freewayfotos.com/video/weak_hand_launch.wmv]Weak Hand Launch[/link]
Not expensive, but funny. The builder/pilot tries to put on his best game face, but he is clearly disappointed and annoyed with his friend. [:@]

[link=http://www.freewayfotos.com/video/a4-crash.mpg]Bungee Death Roll[/link]
The infamous BDR. [X(]

[link=http://www.freewayfotos.com/video/catapult.wmv]Catapult Idea[/link]
How will you know it doesn't work unless you try it? [&:]

[link=http://www.freewayfotos.com/video/rc_jets_crash.wmv]Turbine Meet Carnage[/link]
This video give the turbine pilots heartburn every time it airs. I believe it was a meet in South Africa on a very warm afternoon with high density altitude, or so the story goes.

The headon is my LHS's favorite video, I turned them on to it a while back. Nice to know that venerable old bird is still flying. The old-timers that watch the video at the store say " I am sure he rebuilt her, you owe it to the bird."

that ventus crash was a norwegian guy. he had put in 2-3000 hours building that thing from scratch. This was his second day flying it, it was maidened the day before tha crash. He is a jet guy hence the looks of his "glider" well anyway I think it is one of the most grasious flying I ever saw just before the crash(which was not very surprising)

That "turbine meet" video was a classic - enough to stop me ever building one! "Oh no! My jet's flamed out - better pull in up elevator to keep it away from the ground...." or maybe "one main strut has hung up - think I'll still try for some landing points by grinding it down the tarmac..."

9/10 - bushfire requiring a fire truck was impressive

8.5/10 for the Exstreme Edge - niiice disassembly on impact, just not big enough for that real "wow" factor (and of course no fireball - my pet fave)

Cam

p.s. I do feel for those guys, honest! But we should honour their sacrifices, especially if caught on video......
