how doya' fix a cracked and damaged canopy?
My 50cc YAK54 landed short after an engine failure in a corn field and I aquired some canopy damage. Some cracks and even some chips taken out of it as well. What's the best method to repair this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. JC

There are solvents available that auto restorers use to repair clear parts: dash lenses, etc. You could CA the canopy and wet sand it with very fine grit paper. Spray 'clear' paint on it both sides. The crack will still show but maybe be less offensive. You could get rock hard palster of paris and fill canopy to make a mold in order to pull a new one. Maybe, just buying a new one would be the easiest fix. Good luck, ARUP

For chips that are not all the way through use Bondo. For holes and cracks use epoxy/fiberglass cloth under neath hole and then bondo over hole to smooth. Finally paint.
