crash repair
Went flying today, went up diddly up up, & down diddly down down. Serious diddly...crunched the leading corner of my fuselage where it rolls into the firewall. How do you repair molded foam? what glue do you use that doesn't eat foam? How do I determine the correct angle of the motor mount , or firewall with regards to torque? The plane is/was a J3 Cub BL

RE: crash repair
the only types of glue that will work with foam are either epoxy or special "foam safe" CA glue. Most other CA glues will eat foam so you half to watch that. If the damage is really bad, you can always just buy a new fuselage only and replace it or you can just put a patch repair on the spot that has damage. I am not sure on what your exact angle for the motor should be but It should definitly be pointing slightly to the right and slightly down to give it the correct thrust agle.

RE: crash repair
Thanks David. Just to be sure: I'm guessing the motor angle to the right you mentioned would be looking fwd from the cockpit?
I took a gamble & patched the bird using pieces of foam egg carton, and hi-tac spray adhesive. So far, the repair seems ok. Weather she flies or not remains to be seen. If not, nothing ventured, nothing gained... I've decided to call her "Scrambled Eggs" . Appropriate wouldn't you say? Yes it's crude, but this may happen again...
