Remove Paint
I want to repaint a corsair after some minor work is completed. The problem is, I don't think I can match the paint. What is the recommended approach to this problem? Do you sand the old paint? If so, what grit sandpaper and how would you do it? I also had to purchase a new canopy for it. If someone could provide a link to the best way to paint a canopy, please post it. One of the landing gear mounting blocks is broken. What type of wood to I replace it with?
Thanks for any and all assistance. |

RE: Remove Paint
For the hard wood mount you can use Spruce blocks 1" X1/2" or so.
The tank can be used for Gas BUT you will have to get a kit that replaces the Plug and all gas lines are Tygon. I can't tell how large that tank is. My G23 has an 18 oz tank and I can get air time in the 20 minute range. If the motor mount is strong on the plane and if it has a back plate for mounting straight to the fire wall. Mark your mounting holes and drill your holes to match and then install your blind nuts in the inside and bolt the motor to the fire wall. |
RE: Remove Paint
you can remove the paint with citristrip. you can find it at home depot, lowes or walmart. we are all happy to have found this product.
good luck, david |

RE: Remove Paint
as noted in the thread i will give the fuse to a friend with lots of fiberglass experience. hopefully he can repair the cracks and i can get it ready for paint. the wing is 90% stripped, it will be glassed and painted.

RE: Remove Paint
Make sure you check that citristrip on a small part first, its been known to soften certain types of fiberglass.
