Default Do I really need a drawing tablet for Photoshop?

I've been thinking of getting a drawing tablet, i'd primarily use it with photoshop, and maybe a little bit for schoolwork.

However, i don't exactly do much drawing with photoshop, i just tend to take images and mash them together into a graphic by manipulating layers, adding filtering options, etc.

basically, while i am considering a drawing tablet, i'm wondering if i really need one? would it make sense for me to get one?
I have seen some related posts like this pctechtest.com/best-drawing-tablets-for-photoshop, but still not sure.
any and all help is appreciated, recommendations are welcome too!!

unless you are an artist that can draw, a tablet won't do anything for you.

If your main use of Photoshop is more about photo manipulation and layer management rather than actual drawing, a tablet might not be essential for you. Tablets are great for artists who need that pen-on-paper feel for detailed sketches and paintings. For the work you're describing, a mouse and keyboard could be just as effective. However, a tablet could still be a nice addition to your workflow, offering more precision and a different way to interact with your projects. It could also be useful for any schoolwork that benefits from handwritten notes or diagrams. Ultimately, it's about whether the investment feels worth it for the convenience and added functionality for your specific needs.

I've used Photoshop for photo manipulation as well as drawing generation for years and never used a tablet, just my PC or Laptop. I've purchased several different kinds of tablets but for my wife, not for me.
